SUU Outdoors is growing and we are excited to announce a new Coordinator to our program! The Coordinator of SUU Outdoors will be directly responsible for local area and on campus programming. Additionally, they will oversee the low ropes challenge course and help out with other department areas as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate outdoor related activities in the local area around SUU. This position will focus on localized adventures and assist on the broader back country trips and adventures where needed. This will include securing permits, working with local area coordinators, and developing key partnerships.
Manage the Low Ropes Challenge Course including; hiring and managing student employees, marketing, group reservations, outreach, and inspections of the equipment and general area.
Assist with the general programming, clinics/workshops, climbing facility, Basecamp operations, and student management as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in business, outdoor recreation or related field.
One year experience or more in business management, outdoor recreation equipment rentals, hiring, training, evaluating and supervising staff, budgeting, scheduling and leading trips.
One year experience or more in customer service, teaching clinics/workshops and outdoor recreation risk management.
Certified Wilderness First Responder (current and valid)
Challenge course certification with Associated Challenge
Course Technologies (ACCT) or Professional Ropes Course Association (PRCA).
Certified in one of the following areas :
American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA) single pitch instructor,
American Institute for Avalanche, Research and Education (AIARE) avalanche level 1
American Canoe Association (ACA) level 1
2 years or more experience in the following:
Facilitating ropes course groups, hiring, training, evaluating, and supervising staff, budgeting, scheduling and leading trips, customer service, teaching clinics/workshops and outdoor recreation risk management.

Proven, demonstrable, and verifiable skills directly related to the requirements and qualifications for this job and the overall priorities of Student Affairs.
