University Recreation (UREC) is accepting applications for an Assistant Director for Member Services.

The UREC Assistant Director for Member Services position supervises a large student staff and works closely with all members of the UREC staff to provide a welcoming environment to the JMU community and visitors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
STAFF SUPERVISION: Provides supervision, leadership and mentorship to the Graduate Assistant for Member Services and over 60 student Member Services Assistants and Managers. Responsible for recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating the Member Services staff.
MEMBER SERVICES OPERATIONS: Develops and maintains operation of UREC’s Member Services areas by upholding policies, procedures and services in the UREC Welcome Center, Equipment Center and University Park Gatehouse to include facility access, equipment inventory, program registration, fee collection, tours, towel/locker services, phone system, and point-of-sale items. Ensure the timely and accurate release of information regarding hours, programs and services to the Member Services staff and members as needed.
MEMBERSHIPS: Oversee all UREC membership processing to include students, faculty/staff, alumni, spouses, dependents, emeriti, and affiliates. Orients new members with UREC policies, procedures, and important information. Manages short-term facility access through guest, visitor, and courtesy visits. Serves as the UREC liaison to JMU Card Services.
RECREATION SOFTWARE: Works closely with the UREC Technology Manager to manage the main recreation software and hardware system (Innosoft Fusion). Provides oversight of software functionality including memberships, access, registration, reporting, and equipment. Provides training sessions and communicates information for UREC professional staff to optimize functionality of the software. Trains member services staff to handle basic user issues and responds quickly to troubleshoot or elevate other user issues. Runs Fusion participant reports, access data, and responsible for providing access reports twice per semester.
ADMINISTRATION: Serves as an active member of the Professional Staff Evening Facility and Program Supervision Team. Prepare budget proposals and manage fiscal resources by predicting yearly student employee wages and by recommending purchases for equipment services and supplies.
Salary: Commensurate with experience with full Commonwealth of Virginia faculty benefit package. This is a 12-month full time administrative and professional faculty position with excellent benefits including 24 days of annual leave and 12 paid holidays along with a professional development stipend.
Bachelor’s degree is required and a Master’s degree in related field is preferred.
A minimum of two years of related professional experience is required. A minimum of two years of professional experience in member services administration and operations in a campus recreation setting is preferred (a graduate assistantship would be considered ½ year of experience per year).
Demonstrated related supervisory and/or leadership experience required. Supervision and leadership of graduate assistant and student employees preferred.
Strong working knowledge of recreation management or comparable software (ex: Innosoft Fusion) preferred.
Experience training staff in customer service preferred.
Strong organization skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively on a diverse team preferred.
