As an integral part of Wellness@ASU, the experience team is leading the way in providing personalized frameworks for students to establish and maintain positive health habits at ASU and beyond. We do this by assessing student health and wellness needs, providing a variety of programs and building environments that promote healthy living, decision-making and student engagement for students to ultimately be better equipped to succeed in their academics, career and in their personal lives. This person will also be responsible for taking a leadership role in cultivating, creating and ensuring student participation in ASU Spirit, Pride and Tradition while instilling institutional affiliation and college pride.
Program Coordinator for Well-being through Fitness Engagement serves as a central member of the experience team and is primarily located at the Sun Devil Fitness Complex-Tempe. This position is responsible for developing student employees into student leaders, through ongoing training, assessment and development of student staff. Program Coordinator for Well-being through Fitness Engagement works in a team setting to deliver world class programs and services across ASU’s four campuses in the Metro Phoenix area.
There are many opportunities within Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS); roles shift and evolve to support the needs of the institution. Therefore, it is important for this person to maintain a nimble approach to service. $36,000 per year
Population-specific Programming: Coordinate and manage special events and programs that fit the specific wellness needs of assigned populations; Collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders to execute programs in a meaningful way and in immersion and virtual modalities; maintains effective relationships with campus partners in an ongoing manner.
Well-being Promotion and Programming: Plan, direct and implement immersion and virtual activities and programs of the department to ensure achievement of established strategic plan objectives and goals.
Fitness Functional Expertise: Serve as member of the Sun Devil Fitness and Wellness Fitness expertise team. Direct ongoing and new programs that are aligned with current trends in the area and provides consistent services to students across ASU campus locations. Integral part of planning, development and implementation of fitness programs.
Assist with the planning and coordination of the personal trainer and group wellness instructor prep courses as well as planning and coordination of overall student staff training
Manage the organization of the group wellness schedule and personal training services
Manage the organization of the Wellness Supervisor positions and programs that coincide
Create dynamic and consistent fitness and physical activity programming that promotes student community and meets the changing needs of the ASU student bodyDevelops relationships with departments for implementation of comprehensive plan within departments and disciplines across four ASU campuses
Deliver cost-effective, evidence-informed programs that have a high likelihood of achieving measurable improvements in health behaviors and status and/or enhanced student success
Student Staff Development: Utilize principles of growth mindset when facilitating the engagement, development, hiring, training, scheduling and evaluation of a dynamic student staff that consists of student coordinators, student managers and student supervisors. Will play an integral role in supporting the development of all student staff across the department with intentional models to create growth and learning opportunities for student staff members. Design and implement development and leadership opportunities for student leaders. Mentor student leaders as they navigate the policies, procedures, and processes of the Sun Devil Fitness Program.
Administrative Job Duties
Have a comprehensive understanding of holistic health and implement health and wellbeing programming into the Sun Devil Fitness and Wellness programs and services.
Develop, implement and evaluate strategic plans with working goals that coincide with the strategic plans within EOSS.
Develop collaborative, mentor relationships with all student coordinators to ensure they are performing to the level of para-professional staff.
Responsible for taking a leadership role in cultivating, creating and ensuring student participation in ASU Spirit, Pride and Tradition.
Process payroll for student employees on a bi weekly basis.
Address patron comments, concerns, behaviors and conduct issues as necessary and with outstanding customer service.
Assist with creating, forecasting, monitoring and allocating the various budgets.
Assist with purchasing and maintenance of program equipment and supplies.
Provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of programs and services.
Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Six years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Evidence of a Master's degree in Higher Education, Social/Behavioral Sciences, Recreation, Leisure Studies, Sports Management, or related field and minimum one (1) year of professional experience.
Experience supervising, training, developing and evaluating student employees.
Experience initiating collaborations with university and community partnerships.
Experience cultivating an inclusive, safe and diverse environment for student participants and staff.
Experience training and evaluating student employees
Evidence of programming experience
Experience with Risk Management practices
Evidence of current American Red Cross CPR Certification or willing to obtain in first thirty (30) days
Experience in higher education Facilities settings
Demonstrated knowledge of point of sale software and tracking systems such as Fusion
Evidence of written/oral/interpersonal communication skills
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks
Work in a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment
Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Lift up to 35 pounds

Job location is primarily at the Tempe campus however, the incumbent will be required to periodically travel to other ASU campuses to perform work.
Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) is committed to enrolling all qualified students at Arizona State University and assisting them in their academic success.
