As an integral member of Stonehill College’s Department of Athletics, the Assistant AD – Recreation & Athletic Programs will create and implement a variety of recreational programs and activities to serve our student, staff, faculty and community populations. Primary areas of focus include intramural sports, group exercise and wellness activities and coordination of club sport and varsity athletic event management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as a leader in fostering a campus culture in which differences are embraced and works to advance the College’s mission of diversity and inclusion
Create an innovative and engaging recreational environment to enhance student wellness, encourage community participation and support Stonehill’s mission to educate the whole person
Deliver a safe and engaging recreation and fitness environment for the use of all community members
Provide recreational sport opportunities to serve a variety of interest and ability levels
Manage successful operation of intramural sport programs
Coordinate club and varsity athletic programming
Lead marketing initiatives to promote Recreational Sport participation
Hire, train and manage student staff to assist in a variety of Athletic Department areas
Ensure compliance with all policies, rules and regulations set forth by Stonehill College and associated member organizations
Assist with building supervision as needed

One year of professional experience in the administration and implementation of intramural sports, club sports, recreational varsity athletic programs and events, and/or related field.
One year of demonstrated experience in sport league and/or event management, including organizing, coordinating game and facility scheduling, mitigating risk, implementation and evaluation of sport and/or youth programs.
One year of demonstrated experience in student supervision, advising, training/development, and evaluation of student employees, club sport officers, club sport coaches, and/or practicum/interns.
One year of demonstrated experience in sports officiating and sport rule application as well as ability to hire, train, supervise, and evaluate sport officials.
Demonstrated understanding of the College’s Catholic mission and identity and how Catholic traditions and values enhance the student experience
Ability to work evenings, weekends and non-traditional hours
Demonstrated commitment to embracing and advancing diversity and inclusion in all aspects of campus life
Proven commitment to diversity, equity, and the academic, intellectual, and social development of all students
Ability to work collaboratively with interdepartmental offices, athletic department staff and other institutional areas
Demonstrate knowledge of and ensure compliance with all policies, rules and regulations set forth by Stonehill College.
Demonstrate effective and consistent customer service focus, including listening, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university required; three to five years related athletic and recreation experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and commissions. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software, Internet software, Project Management software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
