As part of the energetic Management Team for The Department of Recreational Services, the Operations Coordinator provides vision and creativity for the Operations area while enhancing the students’ co-curricular learning experiences. The coordinator has shared responsibility for the daily supervision of the Beverly J. Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC), Ice Arena and Tri-Rec satellite facility which includes student staff, facility reservations, equipment management, cleanliness, and overall safety of all three facilities.
The Coordinator has a major leadership role in ensuring that students are provided with outstanding fitness and wellness opportunities consistent with the mission of the Department, Division, and the University.
This position has responsibility in contributing to a positive work environment where student employees are challenged and given the opportunity to succeed. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to the development of students through leadership training, supporting academic success, and professional development.
Dimensions of Position:
Schedules and coordinates all internal and external facility reservations for the SRWC including communicating with internal and external customers, marketing, budgeting, staffing, etc.
Develops and implements onboarding requirements, monthly in-service, and staff development initiatives directed toward creating a safe, enjoyable environment for patrons
Maintains safety/certification records for Operations and Ice Arena staff, ensuring that all certifications and in-service requirements are current
Identifies, reviews, and solves problems related to the Operations area
Coordinates maintenance of all exercise equipment at the SRWC and Tri-Rec facility
Assists with hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating all Operations and Ice Arena student employees
Maintains and controls all expenditures within the Operations area of the department, as well as preparing and submitting budget proposals
Maintains inventory for the SRWC and Ice Arena

Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center, Ice Arena, Disc Golf course, outdoor courts, tennis courts, and outdoor sports fields.
A Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration, Recreation Administration, or related field
A minimum of two years of experience in recreation management (two-year Graduate Assistantship is equivalent to one year experience)
American Red Cross certification in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers required within 30 days of hire
Master’s degree in Sports Administration, Recreation Administration, or related field
Personnel management with supervisory experience
American Red Cross FA/CPR/AED Instructor
Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
Incumbent must be able to communicate with others.
