This position provides essential leadership and strategic direction for the development and implementation of the Esports program at WSU. The Director Esports Programs is critical to the continuation of the divisional goal of “connecting every student.” This position allows for diversity of wellness and recreational opportunities, encourages teamwork, supports applied learning and personal development and well-being for both undergraduate and graduate level WSU Students. This position also provides the direction and advisement for more than four competitive varsity esports teams at WSU and provides outreach and program visibility through intercollegiate competitions and tournaments.
Oversees all administrative, recruiting, coaching and team development activities. Develops, communicates, and implements long- and short-range strategic goals and objectives. Ensures adherence to academic standards and holistic development of student athletes. Develops program budget(s), and monitors and adjusts plan as resource requirements change. Develops business metrics that align with programming goals and objectives. Analyzes data to ensure that the programs and services meet department goals. Utilizes data to develop new or revised current programs and services. Develops and maintains fundraising, coaching and University professional relationships.
Bachelor's degree in business, sports management, or related field by hire date
Master’s degree in business, sports management, or related field
Five (5) years of experience in related field, with two (2) years of experience in a leadership role
Experience running a Collegiate Varsity Esports Team

Excellent customer service ethic and high expectations for quality. Ability to be a major contributor in a team-based environment. Capable of critical and creative thinking. Ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and work assignments. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with staff, alumni, students, and university officials and vendors. Ability to translate ideas into deadline driven actionable plans and tactics. Ability to travel on a limited basis and attend events/activities as needed.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – Professional Rescuer (CPR-PR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), First Aid, and Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) certifications within 30 days of hire date
