POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Manager, Facility Operations & Membership Services, the Facility Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily facility operations of the Student Recreation Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Manage daily indoor and outdoor facility operations for the Student Recreation Center;
• Assist Manager in developing and enforcing policies and procedures (court rules, facility space priorities, facility access, etc.);
• Review, approve, and execute all facility reservations;
• Coordinate logistics for activities, events, and rentals occurring in the Student Recreation Center;
• Maintain building automation systems (lights, sound, closed-circuit video security, etc.);
• Report and coordinate facility maintenance and custodial needs;
• Manage the inventory control and maintenance procedures for recreational equipment and supplies;
• Manage facility operations software tools;
• Assist Manager in developing, managing, and implementing facility risk management procedures to include accident and incident management and reporting;
• Train, and supervise the work of part-time student assistants, monitor performance; generate performance evaluations; administer disciplinary action;
• Assist in identifying learning outcomes for student employees and volunteers; oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of activities ensuring the same;
• Develop, monitor, and adhere to Facility Operations operating budget including overseeing and maintaining hourly employee time cards and monthly reconciliation;
• Assist Manager in conducting comprehensive on-site safety inspections to ensure that all facilities and programs are conducted in accordance with approved rules and regulations that address participant safety as a high priority;
• Assist Manager in ensuring the practice of safety/risk management procedures;
• Assist Manager in ensuring participant accident reports, employee injury reports, incident reports, supervisor’s logs and safety suggestions of staff and participants are maintained and reviewed regularly, and ensures recurring accidents, trends, or unusual situations are analyzed and appropriate changes implemented;
• Assist Manager in coordinating staff safety training activities and ensures that staff meets minimum qualifications, certification and standards required by individual job assignments;
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university preferably with a major in sports management, recreation administration, physical education, kinesiology/exercise science, business administration, or a related field.

Experience:

Equivalent to a minimum of one year of professional-level experience managing sport/recreation facilities during which time the applicant has acquired and/or demonstrated the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is typically performed in both a temperature-controlled office environment and an outdoor environment, occasionally in extreme weather conditions.  Depending on the time of year, average temperatures may range from 50 degrees in winter to over 100 degrees in summer.  Position requires the ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

This position supervises Student Building Managers and Student Operations Services Assistants.

PAY, BENEFITS AND WORK SCHEDULE:

This position is employed through University Student Union (USU). USU offers an excellent benefits package.

The anticipated hiring range will be as follows and is dependent on experience and qualifications:

Hourly:      $ 24.83 - $ 26.44

Biweekly:  $ 1,986.46 - $ 2,115.38

Annually:  $ 51,648 - $ 55,000

HOURS: Full-Time 40 hours per week; may include early mornings, late evenings and weekends.
