Position Title: Intramurals and Recreation Graduate Assistant

Employment Type: Part-time, Academic Staff, Exempt

Reports To: Associate Director of Athletics for Facilities and Capital Projects.

The successful candidates will work a 10-month appointment for the 2022-23 academic year with the opportunity for renewal of a second year. Each graduate assistant will receive a full tuition waiver and an annual stipend of $7,500, paid monthly. These positions will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date for the positions will be August 1, with the potential for a mutually-agreed upon earlier start date and summer employment.

The coaching graduate assistants will also serve as an instructor for one activity class for the Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Management department (HKSM). To be eligible, students must be admitted to the in-person Master of Sport Management Program (MSSM) at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Appointments are contingent upon maintenance of minimum credit requirements and good standing in the MSSM program.

Parkside Athletics and HKSM have collaborated on the graduate assistant program for four years, fostering success for the athletics department, sport management program, and, most importantly, the graduate students. Alumni of the program have gone onto successful careers in college athletics and in club/youth and professional sports, including North Dakota State, Indiana State, Colorado College, Stephen F. Austin, UW-Parkside, University of Illinois-Chicago, and Quincy.

Intramurals and Recreation Graduate Assistant will report directly to the Associate Director of Athletics for Facilities and Capital Projects.

Key Job Responsibilities

The intramurals and recreation graduate assistants will work in conjunction with the Associate AD/Facilities and Capital Projects, with duties including but not limited to:

• Planning and executing intramurals and recreation programming, including:

+ Scheduling and registration of intramurals leagues and tournaments and campus recreation events

+          Marketing to the campus community

+          Hiring and supervising student workers

• Assist in the oversight of campus recreation facilities, including:

+          Facility operations

+          Management of SAC memberships

+          Equipment maintenance and inventory

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for the position of Facilities Operations Graduate Assistant. To be eligible, prospective candidates must be accepted into one of the Master’s Degree programs at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The facilities and operations graduate assistant will report directly to the Associate AD for Facilities and Capital Projects. This position assists with the day-to-day operations of the equipment/issue room and in all aspects of facility management. 

Key Job Responsibilities

The facilities and operations graduate assistants will work in conjunction with the Associate AD for Facilities and Capital Projects, with duties including but not limited to assisting with:

• Assist with day-to-day equipment/issue room operations, including working assigned hours.
• Assist with maintenance and upkeep of athletics and recreation facilities.
• Coordinate laundry cleaning, distribution, and chemical inventory for all 15 NCAA Division II Varsity teams.
• Assist with facility set up and takedown for Parkside and external events.
• Serve as the facility supervisor for Sports & Activity Center, assigned NCAA Varsity home contests, and external rentals.
• Assist with scheduling of facilities for varsity sports competitions and practices, internal and external rentals, intramurals, campus recreation, and University sanctioned events.
• Become familiar with Event Management System(EMS) and Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
