Winthrop University's Recreational Services department is hiring three (3) Graduate Associates for the 2022-2023 academic year in the areas of Recreational Programming (1) and Facility Operations (2) . These positions will begin in August 2022 and conclude in May 2023, with an option to renew for a second year. Graduate Associates are expected to work twenty (20) hours per week and should be able to work flexible hours which may include nights and weekends.

Graduate Associate for Recreational Programming (1)

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Recreational Services - Programming, the Graduate Associate for Recreational Programming will assist with the administration, daily management, organization, and marketing/promotions of intramural sports and informal programming (including pool and climbing wall) through Recreational Services. Position duties are as follows:

• Create schedules (using IMLeagues software) and supervise all Intramural Sports leagues, tournaments, and special events primarily occurring during evenings and occasional weekends.
• Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student staff such as: Intramural Sports Supervisors, Intramural Sports Officials, Climbing Wall Attendants, and Lifeguards.
• Maintain weekly office hours.
• Assist with student payroll using Sling scheduling software.
• Assist with revisions to policy and procedure manuals and sport-specific rule books.
• Assist with safety and risk management procedures through trainings and mock drills.
• Assist with documentation of inventory and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Create promotional materials and market Recreational Services through social media and various promotional events.
• Attend Recreational Services staff meetings as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Acceptance and enrollment into the Graduate School at Winthrop University
• Prior work experience with (or a significant knowledge of) sports
• Prior Intramural Sports work experience or involvement preferred
• Prior sports officiating experience preferred

Preferred Skills: 

• Ability to work with and manage a student staff.
• Effective communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Awareness of safety concerns and risk management procedures.
• Ability to manage conflict, at times in high-stress situations.
• Experience in utilizing various social media platforms.

Graduate Associate for Facility Operations (2 Positions)

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Recreational Services - Operations, the Graduate Associate for Facility Operations will assist with the administration, daily management, organization, and marketing/promotions for operations and programming offered through Recreational Services. This position offers the opportunity to gain experience in all facets of facility supervision. Position duties are as follows:

• Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student staff.
• Ability to work flexible hours which may include nights and weekends for programs and events.
• Assist with student payroll using Sling scheduling software.
• Assist with revisions to policy and procedure manuals.
• Assist with safety and risk management procedures through trainings and mock drills.
• Assist with documentation of inventory and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Create promotional materials and market Recreational Services through social media and various promotional events.
• Maintain daily office hours with flexibility to work some nights and weekends for events and programs.
