The purpose of this position is to oversee the Fitness programming and educational trainings courses at Recreational Sports under the guidance of the Director of Fitness. This position will assist with oversight and administration of all aspects of the fitness program. The Assistant Director will be responsible for all training of staff including twenty-five student and non-student part time fitness instructors and personal trainers. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing all fitness certification and recruitment programs, developing and implementing a new Health Coaching program, managing virtual fitness and wellness offerings, overseeing fitness assessment and prescription, creating workshops and events, assisting with budget management, and scheduling classes and programs at both the Student Recreation Center and the Spruce Hall Motion Lab fitness center. This position will report to the Director of Fitness at Recreational Sports.

• Develop, promote, execute and evaluate a comprehensive fitness and wellness program, including group fitness programs and special events on a semester/annual basis. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating instructors, coaches, and trainers. Implement and oversee Personal Training, Health Coaching, and Group Fitness prep courses. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure effective operations. (35%)
• Manage a comprehensive budget, including the management of fitness equipment expenditures and maintenance, payroll, and the generation of revenue for Fitness. Assist in development of long term fitness equipment replacement plan. (15%)
• Collaborate with campus partners to implement a campus-wide well-being initiative, health coaching program, and referral program for student wellness. (15%)
• Supervise the hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, discipline and payroll for approximately 25 non-student and student staff. (10%)
• Assist the Director of Fitness with risk management concerns and purchases for the program. Review and inspect fitness equipment and facilities related to fitness and wellness events and programs. (10%)
• Teach group fitness classes and implement personal training or coaching sessions as needed. Manage Physical Activity classes for credit each semester (10%)
• Assist in development of marketing strategy and promotion of fitness and wellness programs (5%)
