Campus Recreation is a department within the division of Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness, and recreational programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the following: IM Building, McCoy Natatorium, Stone Valley Outdoor Recreation Area, Tennis Center, White Building, Adventure Recreation, Aquatics, Club Sports, Fitness and Wellness Programs, and Intramural Sports. Campus Recreation is looking for an experienced and dynamic leader to join our team. Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Campus Recreation, the Assistant Director is responsible for:

• Assisting with the day-to-day leadership and management of membership, outreach, and facility operations including supporting Innosoft Fusion software.
• Leading the day-to-day operations and facility event management of satellite facilities which may include White Building, Hepper Fitness Center, Intramural Building, McCoy Natatorium, Tennis Center, and Outdoor Fields.
• Facility oversight, supervision, student development, and assisting with budget management.
• Directly supervising one full-time coordinator and direct and/or indirect supervision of more than 100 student staff.

A Master’s Degree is preferred, in educational administration, recreation or sport management, physical education, or a related field. In addition, we prefer 5 years of full-time experience managing collegiate recreational facilities with demonstrated experience in facility management and supervision in a college/university setting. Knowledge of facility management, operations, membership, and outreach as demonstrated through past experience in a collegiate recreation facility setting, is required.  In addition, knowledge of basic safety and risk management practices as they relate to facility operations and management, as demonstrated through past event and facilities management experience. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills to select, supervise, motivate, train, and evaluate student employees relative to work performance, crisis management, and peer relationships.  Understanding of budgeting principles and the ability to manage multiple facility budgets and prioritize use of funds is essential.

This position requires independent work on complex assignments, while reviewing progress and updating the Senior Associate Director for Facilities and Operations as appropriate.  Knowledge of student development principles and ability to provide student development opportunities to facility supervisory staff is expected. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication (oral and written) skills are essential. Must be able to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.  Attention to detail and good judgment are vital requirements. The successful candidate will have the willingness to lead and work in a team-based environment as well as an eagerness to support and engage with all departmental initiatives and efforts as well as the Division of Student Affairs. The ability to foster a positive climate among a diverse group of staff, student employees and participants is essential.
