This is a full-time Civil Service Program Coordinator position appointed on a [12]-month service basis. The proposed start date is as soon as possible after June 15, 2022. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Primary Position Function/Summary:
Responsible for the implementation, promotion, direction and supervision of the Community (including summer camp) and Club Sports-focused programs as well as
assisting with Intramurals Activities programs. Provide recreation opportunities that are responsive, inclusive, accessible, and fun as part of the offerings of University of
Illinois Campus Recreation for both the campus and greater Champaign-Urbana community.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Community Programs
- Develop, coordinate, manage, and evaluate Campus Recreation summer camp programs and other one-off similar offerings throughout the year (e.g. 5K, Polar Play).
- Hire, train, evaluate, promote student community programs staff tasked with organizing and managing all youth program groups.
- Schedule, plan, and implement community program reservations, equipment purchases/maintenance, and evaluation.
- Assist in the creation of Community Program policies, pricing packages, and employee handbooks.
- Manage program budget for staffing, marketing materials, outreach events, and equipment replacement plans.
- Coordinate with Illinois Student Affairs for community partnerships.
- Collaborate with local community groups/college prep groups/primary and secondary education for youth programming opportunities.
- Foster relationships with the City of Champaign and City of Urbana to form new opportunities for community outreach.
- Prioritize the development of the program with new community additions.
- Maintain a working knowledge of industry trends and present new initiatives each semester.
- Evaluate program satisfaction annually and implement strategies for program expansion and retention.
- Perform needs assessment annually, driving the direction of outreach and program growth.
- Manage and approve part-time staff payroll and ensure staff meet department certification deadlines.
- Support University of Illinois’ commitment to child abuse prevention as a mandatory reporter.
Club Sports
- Structure a cohesive and organized Club Sports program and work cooperatively with student and professional staffs in directing all related aspects.
- In conjunction with the University’s Student Engagement office, administer a comprehensive Club Sports program and provide leadership for, and oversight of, over 37 University club sports teams, ranging in levels of activity and engagement.
- Enforce University and department club sports policies, including discipline and risk management to ensure proper procedure is followed daily as it applies to club sports operations and functions.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of various rules, regulations, policies and procedures of each club sport team as well as those of their conferences and governing bodies and ensure compliance from all University Club Sport organizations.
- Engage and develop relationships with club sports participants, specifically those in leadership positions and on executive boards.
- Work with all Club Sports to ensure applicable University policies and procedures are being followed, including those of University and Student Engagement office.
- Develop leadership curriculum for club sports officers and executive board trainings.
- Work collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent of Grounds and Campus Recreation Events Department to schedule practices, special events and home competitions in addition to addressing any maintenance needs and issues.
- Collect and maintain information with regards to outdoor facility usage.
- Collect and maintain information with regards to Club Sports team rosters, eligibility, schedules and travel arrangements.
- Hire, train, supervise and evaluate part-time employees to assist in the oversight of Club Sports.
- Determine staffing needs and hire qualified candidates based upon certifications, experience, skills and ability to contribute to the diverse needs of the University of Illinois and Campus Recreation.
- Prioritize tasks, schedule and assign/delegate duties to part-time employees.
- Supervise and assist in the development of student staff.
Intramural
- Assist in training, scheduling, evaluation, and promotion of part-time staff.
- Assist in the scheduling and management of Intramural Programming.
- Assist and lead intramural programming needs, both traditional and non-traditional.
- Strategically plan new outreach events in the campus community.
- Collaborate with marketing and sponsorship/outreach professionals for the successful implementation of new programming efforts.
- Coordinate program outreach efforts and initiate new campus partnerships.
- Ensure department risk management plan is implemented effectively.
Department
- Work cooperatively with other Campus Recreation program areas when needed, including the development of collaborative programming.
- Participate as a member of the Campus Recreation professional staff in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Compile information and data in conjunction with monthly, mid-year and yearly reports. Including, but not limited to, Federal Work Study information and diverse student hires.
- Secure, maintain, and inventory associated equipment and supplies in conjunction with the Campus Recreation Business Office. Recommend necessary equipment and supply purchases as needed. Develop policies and procedures related to the evaluation of unit facilities and equipment.
- Develop replacement and preventative maintenance plans for all equipment and supplies.
- Develop internal and external marketing and promotion efforts focused on Risk Management programs and events? in conjunction with the marketing department, implement these efforts which may include print information, website design, social media outreach, and publicizing area achievements.
- Review, in conjunction with the supervising Associate Director for Financial Operations, matters relating to fees, supervision, budget, and fiscal and programmatic responsibilities.
- Participate in the development of programs, departmental objectives and long-range planning, by preforming research, providing recommendations and implementing plans as appropriate.
- Review and make recommendations and updates on all written policies and procedures affecting Campus Recreation.
- Responsible for documenting facility usage information.
- Serve on Division, Department, and/or University committees as assigned.
- Design and implement special projects that support the overall mission of Campus Recreation.
- Assist with night and weekend coverage as needed.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- One (1) year of accumulative education, training, and/or work experience in parks and recreation or collegiate recreation summer camp programs.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated club sports experience
