Job Description

The Coordinator for Competitive Sports and Recreational Day Camp helps provide leadership of the Club Sport program, Intramural Sport program, and Recreational Day Camp.  They assist with the day to day operational and administrative duties governing the university’s Club Sports and Intramural program with a focus on student formation and development.  The Coordinator duties include administering game day and event operations and risk management, overseeing student staff, and administrative tasks such as van management, scheduling, travel planning, and financial processes, as well as the day to day management of the Recreational Day Camp in the summer. This position will also have responsibilities overseeing Intramural Sport leagues and staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling staff, creating leagues, and overall management of nightly activities.  This position reports to the Assistant Director, Competitive Sports and Recreational Day Camp.

Responsibilities: 

•   Serves as the primary point of contact for club sport officers and participants for any questions/concerns (i.e. logistics, budget, personal conflicts) for a  number of teams. 
•   Coordinates and approves travel for off-campus competitions regionally and nationally
•   Schedule and implement leagues, tournaments and facility usage by utilizing ImLeagues
•    Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, supervises, retains, and evaluates student staff
•   Serves as primary Campus Recreation representative at home Club Sport competitions on specific days of the week
•   Ensures compliance with University risk management procedures
•   Assists with scheduling, usage, check-out, and maintenance of campus recreation vans
•   Assists with reviewing purchase requests, managing financial accounts, and fundraising
•   Assists with Club Sport marketing, social media, & publications
•   Attend Club Sport recruitment and marketing events on-campus
•   Assist with Intramural Sport marketing and registration for each phase of Intramural Sports
•   Lead Intramural Sport Officials training and on-site official evaluation
•   Oversees day-to-day camp operations and assists with camp staff trainings/in-services

Commitments:

This position is Sunday – Thursday late afternoon - evening  

Hours may change with training times and home events.  Weekend hours are dependent on home competition schedules. Summer hours switch to Monday - Friday day hours to accommodate camp needs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree is required along with demonstrated one to two years’ experience working in a Campus Recreation setting supervising student staff and overseeing travel. A Graduate Assistantship will be considered one year of experience.

•   Valid Driver’s License
•   1-2 Years officiating at least two of the following sports:  Basketball, Football, Soccer, Volleyball or Ice Hockey
•   Experience leading intramural official trainings
•   Ability to thrive in a diverse student service environment
•   Strong organization skills, ability to manage people and resources in a collaborative team-based environment, and excellent oral and written communication skills

•   Must be able to work independently and reach effective decisions
•   Demonstrated ability to meet established deadlines
•   Scheduling and policy enforcement experience
•   Proficiency in  ImLeagues, Microsoft Office computer programs and Google Docs
•   American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or will obtain within first 3 months of employment)

Preferred: 

•   Master's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Health and Physical Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field 
•         One to two years of experience making purchases and reconciling accounts 
•         Experience officiating Intramural Sports                      
•         Membership and active participation in NIRSA
•         American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Instructor certification (or will obtain within first 6 months of employment)
•         Experience with ImLeagues, Fusion, Peoplesoft Financials and Lucid Travel

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $44,100 to $55,150; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
