Campus Recreation at Northeastern Illinois University is proud to announce 2 Graduate Assistant openings available for the 2022-2023 academic year:  Events/Operations Management and Adventure/Team Building. 

Start Date:  August 15, 2022

Application Deadline: Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted.  Priority given to applications submitted prior to July 15th.

Stipend:  Stipend for academic year; full tuition waiver; on-campus housing waiver; additional academic break employment opportunities; professional development opportunities (NIRSA and IIRSA)

1) Adventure and Team Building – The Adventure Program (AP) Graduate Assistant, will directly oversee and take on leadership roles with the climbing wall, bouldering wall, high ropes course, team building, and outdoor trips.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist in all aspects of the AP including trips, clinics, and events.
2. Assist in the hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating of climbing wall and ropes course facilitators.
3. Coordinate and lead team building efforts.
4. Develop and maintain program staff and program manuals.
5. Facilitate team building, climbing wall events, and challenge course events.
6. Develop, recruit, and lead each semester’s schedule for the following: open climb, open high ropes course, and outdoor trips.
7. Monitor trip leaders ensuring all paperwork is complete including: certifications, trip budget and itineraries, trip evaluations, and payroll.
8. Manage and maintain all equipment within the AP including: safety protocols, inspections, equipment checkout/return, and the retiring/purchasing of equipment.
9. Monitor the program website and recommend updates.

Qualifications

1. Team building, climbing wall, and challenge course facilitation experience.
2. Must be a motivated individual having a strong interest and knowledge in outdoor recreation and team challenge.

2) Event and Operations Management - The Event and Operations Management Graduate Assistant, will directly oversee all aspects related to special event programming and daily operations of the facility. 

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the promotion, registration, and scheduling of all events at the PE complex
2. Assist with daily operations of the building
3. Responsible for all special event setups and teardowns
4. Be the on site point of contact at the event
5. Manage and train Campus Recreation student event staff, building supervisors and X-factors

Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:

1. Experience working within a fitness and/or recreation facility. 
2. Experience planning, coordinating, marketing, and implementing events
