This is a two-year commitment with a renewable agreement pending a successful evaluation at the end of the first academic year. Graduate Assistants are required to maintain a minimum of a 3.0-grade point average each semester and progress towards a graduate degree.

Compensation and Benefit Package

• Tuition coverage (Graduate, Statutory, and Designated)
  • Eligible for both in-state/out-of-state students
  • Eligible for six to thirteen credit hours a semester (Fall and Spring semesters only)
  • Campus Rec will also pay for Distance Learning Fee, University Services, and Recreation Center Fee for the fall and spring semesters.
  • You are responsible for the cost of all other student fees (Athletic, Union Center, Student Service, and Health).

• 12-Month GA Employment
  • Paid bi-weekly at $15 an hour at 20 hours per week. Pending a successful end-of-year evaluation, pay increase to $16 an hour for the second year.
  • In addition, 40 hours per week during August preparation for the fall semester
  • Employment is expected during the summer between years one and two (paid hourly at $15/hour) for program assistant level two work
• Up to $1,800 yearly funding for department development including NIRSA Region IV/Student Lead-On, NIRSA Annual Conference, AORE Conference, certifications, tournaments, and other development opportunities.

General Department Job Responsibilities for all Graduate Assistants

• Support and align with department mission, vision, values, and strategic plan
• Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and contribute to an inclusive working and learning environment
• Attend professional and student staff meetings
• Serve on various department committees
• Provide oversight of program area in the absence of supervisor
• Work night and weekend hours (as needed, based on area)
• Other duties as assigned that assist with the overall mission of the department

Graduate Assistant of Facility Operations (12-month agreement)

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Assistant Director and Coordinator with oversight of approximately 60 front desk employees including Building Supervisors, Member Services, and Operations Assistants. This will include staff and program supervision, hiring, training, evaluations, in-service trainings, facility inspections, special event programming, membership sales, program promotion, risk management, and policy development.
• Work with Operations Staff to develop leadership, management, customer service, and evaluation skills on a daily basis.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Morris Recreation Center (which includes the Great OutRoars and the MAC) and Cain Sports Complex.
• Create and maintain semester staff schedules using online scheduling software (Sub It Up) to ensure the entire facility has coverage and assume responsibility for filling in when necessary.
• Supervision of MRC operations in the absence of the Assistant Director and Coordinator during professional training, conferences, vacations, and sick leave.
• Oversee and manage Equipment Check-Out to include inventory control and purchasing of equipment.
• Develop and maintain a budget for the equipment check-out.
• Assist in the oversight of facility maintenance and repair plans (which includes the Pump House, MAC Court, and Cain Sports Complex).
• Assist with indoor reservations and special events including but not limited to: logistics, being the point of contact for reservation groups, and risk management during the event.
• Work with the Assistant Director to fully utilize Fusion, Connect2, and scheduling software (EMS) for daily operations.
• Uphold risk management standards that include obtaining appropriate certifications, updating documentation, and instructing safety courses and training.
• Serve as contributing member of the professional staff by participating in goal setting and long-range planning, attending conferences, and preparing presentations and proposals.
• Be on-call one weekend a month.
• Special projects and other duties as assigned.
