We are looking for a second Living Well Coordinator to continue expanding our successful programs including Personal Training, Group Exercise, Series (Dance/Martial Arts), Small Group Training, Fit For Life, Custom Wellness Classes, the Living Well Center, and Nutrition.

Department Overview
Campus Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness and recreation programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the following: The Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), Live Well, Recreation Sports, Sports Clubs, Equestrian Center, Outdoor Adventures, Craft Center, Aquatics Program, Youth Programs and the UC Davis Marching Band. Campus Recreation’s mission is to benefit the campus community by promoting wellness, encouraging student and staff development, fostering diversity and developing supportive partnerships.
Position Overview
Work as part of the Living Well unit within the Department of Campus Recreation and Unions under the Assistant Director for Living Well. Develop, implement and manage programs including but not limited to Personal Training, Group Exercise, Instructional Classes, Senior Fitness, ACE preparatory classes, other programs for students, staff and faculty, and the day-to-day operation of the Living Well Center. Wellness and health education programs include health promotion, disease and injury prevention, nutrition, stress management, eating disorders, body image and self-esteem, and other wellness topics.

Function: PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
Duties: Oversee operation of assigned Living Well programs that promote a campus environment conducive to positive fitness and wellness behaviors, including innovative programming for the campus student population on issues related to fitness, nutrition, body image, stress reduction, eating disorders and weight training techniques. Develop, implement and manage group exercise, personal training, small group training,
senior fitness, aqua classes, and the mind body series. Plan, develop, schedule, and implement fitness and wellness programming for students, staff, and faculty. Make decisions that consistently provide professional fitness services in accordance with national and collegiate fitness and wellness standards. Oversee record keeping and assessment, including but not limited to participant evaluations. Respond to the expressed needs and interests of the participant base. Make recommendations to the Assistant Director about programs when necessary to meet those needs, participate in the development and implementation of annual and long-range goals focusing on integrated wellness for students. Work collaboratively with Student Health and Counseling Services staff to understand and meet campuses goals in health education and wellness initiatives.

Function: PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
Duties: Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate various levels of student staff, student managers and contract personnel. Plan regular staff meetings and training sessions for each assigned area including risk management training for all staff. Develop and maintain updated, well-organized operational training, manuals and materials. Participate in the implementation of the American Council on Exercise test prep courses.

Function: FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Duties: Generate revenue according to budget projections and ensure expenditures are on target for supplies and services essential to the overall development of Living Well programs. Manage student payroll in accordance with all University policies and procedures.

Position is a mandated reporter for known or suspected child abuse and requires that a statement acknowledging the requirement to report child abuse be signed.
Restricted vacation during peak periods. Work flexible schedule including some nights and weekends with occasional overtime.
Minimum Qualifications
Additional Minimum License/Certification:
- Current certification from; American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), American Council on Exercise (ACE) or Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) certification(s), or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related area and/ or equivalent experience/ training.
- Experience developing, implementing and assessing fitness and wellness programs in a university setting including knowledge of group exercise, training principles, course certifications, risk management, equipment purchasing used in classes and experience recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating instructors to teach courses and/or work for the department.
- Customer service, communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patrons, colleagues, professionals, and administrators as well as experience in providing oral presentations to large groups to facilitate group discussion and educational programs.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Knowledge of issues and trends associated with fitness and wellness, including but not limited to positive fitness and wellness behaviors, nutrition, body image, stress reduction, eating disorders, weight training techniques, and dance, martial arts and mind body instructional classes.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with culturally diverse students, staff, faculty, and others in the university community.
- Skills to use computer hardware and software to write reports, prepare promotional materials, manage reservations systems, update website, maintain reports and spreadsheets.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Master’s degree in related area and/ or equivalent experience/ training.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
- Understanding of budget principles and revenue development.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple programs, materials, information, and people to maximize resources and achieve optimal efficiencies.
