The Recreation Coordinator designs and implements sports recreational programming offered by the City. This includes controlling the inventory, marketing, promoting, procurement, and budgeting for programs and projects associated with recreational programming. Supervises, evaluates, hires and trains staff to meet the recreational programming requirements. Areas of specialty includes Sports programming, facility operations. Incumbents in this class may be rotated or transferred to other facilities and/or assignments based on department or seasonal needs. This class performs related duties as required. Recreation Coordinators may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Supervision is received from a Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Manager. 

• Management of the day-to-day operations, and marketing of recreation programs and collection of program fees.
• Supervises and programs activities of the support staff including training, schedules trainings before each season. Performs evaluations after each season and sport.
• Organizes recreation programs; monitors and evaluates programs.
• Communicates with staff and other program and operation areas regarding program.
• Program budget planning and facility cost estimates and provides budgetary oversight to program area.
• . Determines current and future needs for equipment and programs.
• Evaluates programs for adult and youth programs for all skills and abilities on a yearly basis.
• Recruits contracted service providers who are responsible for a variety of recreation programs and vendor services.
• Monitors the purchase, use and care of facilities and program equipment.
• Implements systems to improve services and processes.
• Performs onsite program inspections as well as onsite evaluation to ensure compliance with City of Maricopa program and safety policies and procedures.
• Programs activities with other departments, outside agencies and organizations and performs duties that originate in the Community Services Department.
• Develops yearly program calendar for area of responsibility.
• Enforces department policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Programs activities with other departments, outside agencies and organizations and performs duties that originate in the Community Services Department.
• Acts as liaison to community groups and agencies.
• Creates and makes presentations to City Committees, City Council, community groups, and other agencies
• Performs related work as required
