SPORTS SUPERVISOR
GENERAL
The Full-Time PRCA Supervisor (Sports) plays an essential role on the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department team. Use your knowledge and passion for sports to make a lasting contribution to the health and self-esteem of community members. Kettering’s sports leagues and programs have a direct and meaningful impact on hundreds of youth and adults each year.
The PRCA Supervisor (Sports) is responsible for developing, coordinating and supervising youth and adult sports programs, events and leagues for the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. The PRCA Supervisor will supervise part-time support staff team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have the ability to take primary responsibility for the youth and adult sports program and league operation, and the knowledge of the objectives and principles of public recreation, including a thorough understanding of activities, which comprise a community recreation program. Strong interpersonal skills, experience in working in public sector, and a background in recreational service delivery programs desirable. Excellent organizational and staff supervisory skills are required, as well as the ability to work effectively with all employees, City officials and the general public. Experience in budget management and preparation required. Excellent communication skills and strong leadership abilities are desirable. Previous recreation program development and management experience are also preferred. If not currently certified in CPR and First Aid, certification will be required after appointment.
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Sport Administration or related field and three years or more of related professional experience in sports programming administration, master’s degree is preferred. Any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is required by this position. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
COMPENSATION
The PRCA Supervisor (Sports) position is an unclassified and exempt position with a current annual salary up to $77,771.00/yr. contingent upon the candidate’s related skills, knowledge, and abilities. PROGRAM & YOUTH SUPERVISOR
GENERAL:
Are you passionate about developing quality programming for youth and families? The Program and Youth Development Supervisor is an essential part of our Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts team. Use your knowledge and enthusiasm for program development to make a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of our community’s youth.
The City of Kettering Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is recruiting to fill a full-time Program and Youth Development Supervisor. This position is responsible for all programming and events for children, up to age 18, and families. This includes program-specific and City-wide special events, special populations, traditional summer day camp programs and the Partners for Healthy Youth Board in cooperation with the Kettering City School District. Additional responsibilities include researching, developing and implementing new and innovative youth and family special events and programs on a monthly, quarterly, seasonal and annual basis; recruiting, training and supervising all camp staff; supervising and evaluating program coordinators and part-time employees; developing and coordinating activities and events for special populations with a focus on inclusive programming. The Program and Youth Development Supervisor works with the Recreation Manager, other coordinators and City departments to implement large City-wide special events, such as Go 4th (Fourth of July fireworks), Mayor’s Tree Lighting and other PRCA events.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation or related field and have at least five years of related professional experience in public recreation or non-profit leadership; or any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have the ability to take primary responsibility for the entire youth, family and special population program operation and have knowledge of the objectives and principles of public recreation, including a thorough understanding of activities, which comprise a community recreation program. Experience in budget management and preparation required. Strong interpersonal skills, experience in working in public sector, and a background in recreational service delivery programs desirable. If not currently certified in CPR and First Aid, certification will be required within 2 months of appointment. Excellent organizational and staff supervisory skills are required, as well as the ability to work effectively with all employees, City officials and the general public.
COMPENSATION:
Annual salary up to $77,771 with entry rate contingent on candidate’s related skills, education, knowledge and abilities. Excellent benefits.
