COORDINATOR OF FACILITY OPERATIONS
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Facility Operations, the Coordinator of Facility Operations is responsible for aspects of University Recreation operations including staff hiring and training, program registration and sales, facility reservations and overall day-to-day management of facility operations
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:
- Management of day-to-day operations for UREC.
- Train and supervise students working within facility operations across 3 desks located at 2 facilities.
- Serve as liaison between LSU student organizations and campus departments for facility reservations and rentals.
- Provides support for frontline staff when events occur within UREC.
- Familiarity with best practices in managing, developing, and providing training and leadership.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR LEADERSHIP:
Enhance the student and member experience. Nearly 30,000 distinct LSU students and members utilize the UREC at least one time throughout the year. This position has a leadership role in establishing consistent practices for how student staff respond to questions about programs and services. Through ensuring the facility is well maintained and operated, the Coordinator develops a welcoming environment that fosters a sense of community when utilizing the UREC.
Optimize student staff trainings
Well-trained and high-quality student staff are the cornerstone of UREC facility operations. The Coordinator will develop and regularly update trainings to best meets the needs of student staff ensuring excellence customer service and their understanding of UREC policies and procedures.
Increase knowledge of facility operations
The Coordinator will have a direct role in the day-to-day management of UREC facility operations. As they will have a high attention to detail and understanding of UREC technology that is used throughout the facility, they will help lead us in efforts to enhance staff understanding about delivering high quality programs and services through sound operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES EXPLAINED:
Direct Student Support (40%)
Provide leadership and management support for 60+ part-time student employees. Responsible for developing trainings that ensure employees are knowledgeable about UREC policy and procedures, point of sale system and membership software. Through engagement with our student users, the Coordinator and their student team develops a welcoming environment for students utilizing the UREC.
Administrative Support (20%)
Support the day-to-day facility operations through administrative management while working with UREC business administration to ensure policies are being followed and updated when necessary. Provides staff coverage during evenings, weekends, and special events as determined by department and function need. Oversee department reservations and rentals. Assist with set-up, breakdown, billing, and assessment of rentals.
Program Support (20%)
Coordinates logistics for events, experiences, or rentals within University Recreation. Oversees expenditures for one or more events, experiences, or services within Facility Operations. Provides feedback regarding departmental programs, equipment, and services by engaging in programs, experiences and using UREC facilities. Contributes positively to the work environment by participating in dialog that is indicative of the division’s and unit’s culture of teamwork and cooperation.
Quality Control (15%)
Delivers high quality student and member facing service that improves the UREC experience. Ensures all aspects of sales and data tracking through UREC recreation software is properly accounted for and any issues are reported to UREC’s business office.
Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Assistant Director of Facility Operations. This includes but is not limited to efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Career Expo, Disability Services Finals Testing, other special projects etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- 1 year of work experience in a sport/recreation environment, with particular emphasis in university recreation.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in related field.
- 2 years professional work experience in collegiate recreation, parks and recreation or applicable field. Experience using Innosoft Fusion and/or point of sale experience. 1 year experience work customer service in collegiate recreation managing a large, 40-60, part-time student staff.
DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
- American Red Cross Instructor Certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Standard First Aid
