The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is excited to welcome applicants for its Competitive Sports Coordinator position in the Recreation and Sport Operations Department.
The Competitive Sports Coordinator in Recreation and Sport Operations is a full-time, 11-month annual appointment responsible for the Intramural Sports, Club Sports, and Esports programs. This position handles the comprehensive management of each program area providing supervisory oversight and administrating a variety of responsibilities. Intramural Sports duties include league and tournament play, facility scheduling, budget development, marketing, and the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising of student employees. Club Sport duties include the supervision and oversight of 31 clubs, budget development, facilities scheduling, event supervision, and policy development and implementation. Esports duties include lab oversight, hardware management, competition development, policy enforcement, eligibility tracking, and budget coordination. This is a renewable assignment, contingent on performance. The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The intended start date is late August/early September.
THE UNIT: Recreation and Sport Operations provides a variety of programs and services to meet the needs and interests of the University community. Specific programs include Group Exercise, Fitness, Adventure Trips, Archery, Climbing Programs, Open Recreation, Massage Therapy, Intramurals, Club Sports, Esports, Special Events, Wellness Education, and Marketing.
All upper campus indoor and outdoor sport recreation facilities are managed by Recreation and Sport Operations. These facilities include McPhee Center/Ade Olson Addition, Hilltop Recreation Center, Crest Fitness Center, Eagle’s View Challenge Ropes Course, Simpson Fields, Towers Field, Bridgman basketball courts, and Bollinger Fields.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Administration, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Student Affairs, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. Demonstrated experience leading sport programs. Excellent written and oral communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills; ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure; ability to create and maintain a program budget. Knowledge of software programs including IMLeagues, InnoSoft Fusion, and Campus Groups a plus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A master’s degree preferred in Recreation, Sports Administration, Physical Education, Student Affairs, Exercise Science, or related field. Experience working in higher education, supervising or advising students, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.
