Under the supervision of the Gannon University Recreation and Wellness Center Director, the Assistant Director of Recreation and Wellness supports oversight of the organization, management, administration and supervision of all aspects of the Gannon University Recreation and Wellness Center related to fitness programming, aquatics, and building operations. The Assistant Director relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish departmental goals supported by application and integration of student development and engagement theory. The Assistant Director is expected to perform a variety of tasks as well as lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Candidates should be familiar with a variety of fitness concepts, practices, and procedures and maintains a national fitness certification in their areas of teaching and training expertise.
Requires a Master’s degree in recreation, exercise science, public health, health promotions, business, or related field with at least 2 years of experience in the fitness management field in a University setting.
Must be familiar with student development theory to support the student-led administrative model.
Must be Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Certified, or willing to obtain certification within 6 months of start date.
