Develop, implement, and update standard operating procedures and guidelines. Responsible for supervision (hiring, training, scheduling, disciplining, terminating, and performance evaluations) of personal trainers, fitness instructors, lifeguards, swim instructors and other student and non-student personnel working in Health and Wellness. Assist with the development and administration of group fitness, small group training and wellness outreach programs. Planning and implementation of special events such as Kids and Youth Camps, Wellness workshops, health fairs, senior fitness programs, etc. Participation in SOAR events. Conduct regular program assessments to determine satisfaction levels and areas of improvement. Responsible for swimming pool and spa water chemistry and operations, and checking cleanliness of the sauna. Maintain statistical data on all program areas, which includes participation counts, demographics, revenue impact and program evaluations. Assist with the development and execution of marketing strategies for fitness programs, services, and special events. Assist with the development and administration of the fitness program budget. Responsible for managing time and biweekly payroll for student and non-student staff. Complete financial and participation reports for all fitness programs, services, and events each semester. Provide expert on-site supervision of staff. Assist as needed in all required departmental functions. Some weekends and evenings required. Other duties as assigned.
B.S. in EXPW or related field from an accredited institution. Current certifications from a nationally recognized program such as AFAA, ACSM, or ACE in the following: Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor, and Aqua Fitness Instructor. AHA or ARC Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certification. Two years of experience in health, wellness, nutrition, or recreation. Experience in scheduling, supervising, and evaluating student and non-student personnel, and managing and scheduling recreational programs. Ability to collaborate effectively with a goal-oriented organization. Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
M.A. in EXPW or related field from an accredited institution. AHA or ARCCPR/AED Instructor certification or be willing to obtain within 6 months. AFO Certification (Aquatic Facility Operator), Lifeguard certification (Ellis preferred). Experience in aquatic program planning including swim lessons, water safety, etc. Experience in budget development and ability to work within budgetary guidelines. Experience with Connect2, scheduling software, Innosoft Fusion.
