The Fitness Coordinator will manage the daily operations of the Li Ka Shing Center (LKSC) Fitness Center to ensure a clean, safe, and modern fitness facility. In addition to the general supervision of the Center, provide direct fitness services to eligible bioscience and medical school students including 1-1 personal training, small group training, and/or group exercise classes.
Your responsibilities include:
Program Management (60%)
Provide oversight of the LKSC Fitness Center.
Provide personal training, small group training, and/or group fitness programming for biosciences and medical student participants.
Conduct fitness programs and outreach.
Research and resolve routine issues, refer complex issues to other staff.
Serve as the point of contact for general maintenance, health and safety, and other facility concerns within the unit(s); report any incidents or potential safety problems to appropriate representatives.
Ensure policies and procedures are followed in accordance with established service and safety standards.
Manage and troubleshoot program operations as it pertains to the Fitness Center.
Assist with the implementation of policies and procedures to include facility access, emergency action plans, and standard operating procedures.
Will oversee the coordination of fitness program offerings including planning and scheduling classes, coordinating facility use, purchasing and maintaining equipment used in classes and quality assurance.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with University and/ or community representatives, vendors, and other regular contacts to meet the objectives of the fitness program.
Administrative Responsibilities (40%)
Coordinate scheduling logistics for LKSC Fitness Center and other approved fitness locations needed to serve medical students.
Respond to routine inquiries via in-person, telephone and electronic communication modes.
Serve as a subject matter resource to students, faculty, and staff.
Gather, analyze and report on fitness programs data.
Collect and compile monthly, quarterly and annual operational and statistical data to determine and improve methods and procedures to better serve the program and LKSC student community.
Collect satisfaction surveys and customer response forms; create reports and recommend solutions.
Assist in administration of the online fitness program registration system(s). Review documents and forms for completeness, track files for follow up and distribute for review.
Contribute to general office administration and process improvements.
Qualifications - External
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience or a combination of relevant education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to provide 1-on-1 and group personal training and/or group fitness sessions.
In-depth knowledge of current and emerging trends in fitness facility equipment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Customer service skills.
Basic office administration skills.
Ability to learn compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
Ability to frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks; occasionally stand, walk, twist, use fine manipulation, grasp, use a telephone, write by hand, sort and file paperwork, lift, carry, push, and pull objects that weigh up to 45 pounds. Additional physical tasks may include demonstrating fitness-related activities and movements.
Certifications and Licenses:
Nationally recognized personal training or group fitness certification
First Aid and CPR certification
