Position Overview: As part of the energetic and student development focused management team for Recreation and Wellness Services, the Assistant Director, Aquatics, Operations, and Safety will provide support and leadership through safety and risk management education and training. Additionally, this position will provide operational and facility oversight of the natatorium, including assisting with maintenance support, maintaining all records and requirements specific to the Ohio Revised Code for swimming pool operations, and assisting with planning and organizing the annual maintenance shutdown. This position will be responsible for marketing, scheduling, training, and staffing all American Red Cross programming and youth swim teams. Critical responsibilities including recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating student staff; supervising a full-time pool technician; and creating and implementing a safety response team for the department.
Dimensions of Position:
Provide operational and facility oversight of the Natatorium.
Coordinate and lead all aquatics and safety programs.
Provide maintenance support to the Natatorium, including backup support to the Pool Technician.
Market, schedule, train and staff all American Red Cross programming.
Responsible for maintaining all records and requirements specific to the Ohio Revised Code for swimming pool operations.
Support the department through safety and risk management education and training.
Provide Departmental support of Training and Development initiatives.
Provide support for facility operations.
Assist with planning and organizing of annual maintenance shutdown for designated area.
Supervise area-specific student staff and a full-time Pool Technician.
Provide leadership support to youth swim team.

Master's Degree in Sport Administration, Recreation Administration, Physical Education, or a relevant field.
Two years experience in recreational services or a relevant field which has included at least one year in a supervisory or lead capacity.
Current American Red Cross Certification in Lifeguarding and Safety Instruction (LG, LGI, WSI, CPR/FA/AED) Required.
CPO Certification is required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment (financial support for the certification may be provided).
Preferred Qualifications:
Detail oriented, highly organized and the ability to deal with a variety of situations and people in a balanced way.
American Red Cross certifications in WSIT and LGIT are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
Incumbent must be able to communicate with others.
May require occasional travel on and off-campus.
