About V3 Center
In November 2022, V3 broke ground on Phase One of the future V3 Center, a 120,000 square foot recreation, wellness and aquatic center that will be a North Minneapolis community asset and a regional destination when fully developed. The focus of Phase One is to provide a place for Northside residents of all ages to access health, wellness, equity, and opportunity through fitness, water safety, education, and economic impact. Phase Two, which V3 is actively fundraising for, will be a regional destination for sporting events, career fairs, community events, and other drivers of economic stability. The V3 Center will serve the Northside community and the broader region and will host programs from partner organizations, including schools, nonprofits, youth development and sports organizations. At the V3 Center, Northside youth and families will access programming that supports their career and economic aspirations and builds the skills they need to make their dreams reality.
V3 Center will attract 45,000 spectators, visitors, and families annually for events, training and athletic competitions, generating $5.2 million in annual impact for the local economy. Construction of V3 Center will generate 300-500 direct and indirect jobs worth $4.3 million over five years. Nearly 60 year-round part-time and full-time jobs will be created for residents in North Minneapolis.
When fully developed, V3 Center will include:
Aquatic center with three pools - 50 meter competition and recreational pool, 25-yard instructional pool, and warm-water hydrotherapy pool
Indoor track, workout areas, fitness activity rooms, and four multi-purpose courts
A kitchen and cafeteria focused on healthful options
Study areas, classrooms, and community meeting and event spaces
Sustainability/green features including solar panels, a green roof, energy-efficient design and building materials; and eco-friendly landscaping
Programming with community partners including Minneapolis Public Schools, Minneapolis Parks and Recreation, Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, Youthprise, Great Wolf Swim Team, Youth and Families Determined to Succeed/Maximum Impact Training, Homegrown Lacrosse, Bolder Options, The Sanneh Foundation, Ebony Mermaids, MN Water Polo, and many more
About the Facilities Director role
The V3 Center Facilities Director is a senior-level position. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of facility operations, including planning, budgeting, purchasing, maintenance, and more. The Facilities Director will manage several direct reports who will be responsible for various functional areas, and may also be involved with other areas of V3 Center operations, such as human resources or marketing. The Facilities Director will work with the Executive Director and senior staff to ensure V3’s overall goals are met and employees have a safe and healthy place to work.
Specific areas of responsibility include:
Developing and implementing long-term facility plans that align with V3’s business goals, including major systems and equipment management, maintenance and replacement schedule
Hiring, supervising and scheduling facility staff, provide training and development opportunities and ensuring they are performing all required tasks in a timely and excellent manner to ensure a clean, safe, and properly functioning center and landscape
With staff input, preparing and managing budgets for all facility-related expenses monthly, quarterly and yearly
Developing and implementing policies and procedures (including emergency action plans), safety standards, and risk management, required for efficient operation and maintenance of the facilities and equipment; serving as point of contact for all V3 facility-related issues; handling customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner
Ensuring compliance with city, state, and federal regulations
Monitoring energy usage and developing strategies for reducing costs and ensuring V3 Center maximizes environmental sustainability
Overseeing facility security measures such as: input into doorway entry systems, security cameras, etc., during design; hiring security staff; supporting facility staff to be prepared and equipped for various situations
Negotiating and managing contracts with vendors and service providers
Overseeing management of V3’s inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment (e.g. computers, tools, chemicals, IT, machinery, etc.), including managing contractors for outsourced services
Oversee coordination and successful execution of events at V3, e.g. sporting events (including major events such as state and regional meets), career fairs, community celebrations, and more
Overseeing development of membership structure and implementation of membership tracking system; determine member fees and other revenue generating strategies to support V3 Center’s financial sustainability
In coordination with the design/build team, overseeing the planning and construction of V3 Center and providing critical insight into design elements, particularly for Phase Two

Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in recreation management, business, engineering, or related field, or comparable relevant experience
10+ years experience in facilities management or a similar role
Proven track record of successful budget development and oversight
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
Proven track record of working with diverse clientele
Enthusiastic entrepreneurial skills; comfortable being part of a start-up initiative
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Master’s or other advanced degree in recreation management, business, engineering, or related field
15+ years experience in facilities management or a similar role
Credentials such as Certification in Facilities Management (CFM), Certified Facility Manager (FMP), and/or Certification in Pool Operations (CPO)
Working knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software
Experience with energy management and sustainability initiatives
Experience opening a recreational or comparable facility

V3 Center will provide drop-in childcare, study areas, community meeting spaces, and an experiential learning center that will be used by youth development programs. An indoor track, workout area, spin room and multipurpose courts will offer opportunities for group and indi...vidual exercise. Finally, V3 Center will include incubator spaces for community start-up healthy lifestyle businesses. V3 Center is the embodiment of a bold idea: wellness can be a catalyst and engine for economic growth, driven by community. In addition to hosting V3 Sports programs and activities for community organizations, V3 Center will be available to host regional youth athletic competitions, which will generate earned income to support Center operations as well as attracting visitors to the neighborhood.
