Department Overview
Campus Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness and recreation programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the following: The Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), Live Well, Recreation Sports, Sports Clubs, Equestrian Center, Outdoor Adventures, Craft Center, Aquatics Program, Youth Programs and the UC Davis Marching Band.
Position Overview
Under general supervision, serve as Competitive Sports and All Access Recreation Coordinator, with direct oversight of the Rec Sports (Intramural) and Sport Clubs program within the Department of Campus Recreation. Position will also have additional oversight of the All-Access Recreation (Adaptive) program. Provide support to the Assistant Director, as well as the Competitive Sports Programs unit. Collaborate with the Competitive Sports and Youth Programs Coordinator, Rec Sports Coordinator and Sport Clubs Coordinator to oversee the Competitive Sports and All Access Recreation program within the Department of Campus Recreation. Manage a diverse competitive and recreational program with up to 40 Recreational Sports activities serving more than 9000 participants. Manage a diverse competitive Sport Clubs program with 41 clubs serving more than 2700 athletes. Manage and direct adaptive and therapeutic recreation programs within the department. Design and lead adaptive recreation trainings. Support staff in adapting existing and new programs and services to provide inclusive opportunities. Manage and oversee all aspects of the programs including program management, supervision, risk management, student development, and field management.

Position Functions
PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION- Competitive Sports 30%
Work with Rec Sports Coordinator to Initiate, organize and manage a diverse Recreational Sports program (Intramurals), including major sports like Basketball and Soccer, minor sports like Volleyball and Tube Polo, virtual programs like E-Sports and Trivia and special events like Poker and Bingo. Will directly oversee 1 major sport, 1 minor sport and 1 special event per quarter. Assist with policies and procedures, yearly calendar, facility reservations, purchases, annual budget, annual report, online registration and Rec Sports Advisory Council.
Work with Sport Clubs Coordinator to manage a diverse student Sport Clubs program involving 41 competitive sport clubs with ~2700 Student Athletes. Will directly oversee 5-10 Sport Clubs each year. Assist with policies and procedures, yearly calendar, officer trainings and meetings, Sport Clubs Advisory Council, manual for athletes and coaches, waivers, facility reservations, purchases, eligibility checks, annual reports and annual budgets.
Research and interpret University and department policies, procedures, and regulations. Communicate and coordinate with other campus units to assure consistent implementation of policies and procedures affecting joint spaces. Ensure that all risk management and emergency procedures are consistently applied to all aspects of program. Resolve any conflict/disciplinary matters that may arise between staff, participants, and others. Serve on committees directly or indirectly related to recreation as opportunities become available and as assigned. Participate in professional development opportunities, including state, regional and national conferences. Update and maintain all webpages and digital media including social media platforms. Provide ongoing evaluation, feedback, and assessment of Rec Sports, Sport Clubs and Youth Programs.
PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION- All Access Recreation 20%
Works with Assistant Director to manage and direct adaptive and therapeutic recreation programs within the department of Campus Recreation.
Support Campus Recreation staff in adapting existing and new programs and services to provide inclusive opportunities for participation.
Provide direct service to individuals needing support with programs including, but not limited to scheduling and performing guided tours and individualized orientations for the activities and equipment available in the Activities and Recreation Center, Rec Pool and other areas/facilities of the department.
SUPERVISION 30%
Recruit, hire, train and develop Customer Service Coordinator, along with student Managers, Supervisors, Officials, Recorders and Counselors for Rec Sports, Sport Clubs and All Access Recreation activities. Coordinate and conduct weeklong Rec Sports Official's Clinics at the beginning of each quarter. Reserve and schedule all spaces for official's clinics, trainings and meetings throughout the year. Conduct monthly staff meetings. Coordinate weeklong training for Managers, Supervisors, and Recorders prior to start of Fall quarter. Ensure proper scheduling of staff for all Rec Sports, Sport Clubs and All Access Recreation activities. Provide ongoing training, evaluation, feedback and assessment for all staff. Keeps payroll records for student employees. Provides training and meetings for club officers who manage individual clubs and their budgets. Provides student employees with opportunities to obtain leadership experience through direct participation in the management of the programs
FIELD MANAGEMENT 10%
In conjunction with Grounds and Sports Turf Division, coordinate field care for 5 recreational fields (4 grass fields and 1 turf field) located on campus. Manage the preparation of sites and facilities for assigned Rec Sports, Sport Clubs and Youth Program activities to ensure safe playing environment. Collaborate with Competitive Sports and All Access Recreation Coordinator, Rec Sports Coordinator, Sport Clubs Coordinator and Youth Programs Coordinator to ensure all programs have facility space. Coordinate with other units within department to ensure programs have field space to operate (ex: Outdoor Adventures and Marching Band). Work with Campus and Event Services (CES) to ensure fields and staff are available for campus groups and outside organizations.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT 10%
Manage assigned program budgets and budgetary expenditures for supplies and services essential to the overall development of Rec Sports, Sport Clubs and Youth Programs. Manages student payroll in accordance with all University policies and procedures. Allocates funds to Sport Clubs based on established procedures

Minimum Qualifications
Valid CA driver's license required.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/ training. Minimum of 3 years' experience with recreational sports programming in a university, municipal, non-profit or private setting including event management and supervision.
Experience with recreational and adaptive programming in a university or similar setting.
Experience officiating and/or training sports officials at the Intramural level
Knowledge of adaptive sports and/or therapeutic recreation programming principles.
Experience with safety and risk practices as they relate to event and facilities management for recreational and competitive sports in both indoor and outdoor facilities/locations.
Leadership and supervisory experience to select, supervise, motivate, and evaluate student employees relative to work performance, crisis management and peer relationships.
Knowledge of competitive and recreational sports programming principles.
Knowledge of student development principles, and ability to provide student development opportunities for all supervisory staff.
Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and varied organizational levels within and outside of the University and to provide exceptional customer service.
Oral and written communication skills to prepare concise, yet comprehensive presentations before small and large audiences.
Organizational skills to prioritize workload and meet work assignments, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Computer and software skills in the use of Fusion, Fusion IM/Fusion Play, Fusion GO app, Microsoft Suite (word, excel, etc.) and Google Suite (docs, excel)
Preferred Qualifications
A Master's degree in educational administration, recreation or sport management or a related field.
Experience in a collegiate recreation setting.
Experience officiating and/or training sports officials at the high school and/or collegiate level
