Job Summary The Fitness Program Supervisor is responsible for creating and overseeing fitness programming and services that meet the needs of a diverse campus community, and University Recreation membership base. The Fitness Program Supervisor will be responsible for managing the overall operations of the University Recreation fitness center. Additionally, this position will oversee fitness program offerings including but not limited to; personal training, group fitness classes, and small group training programs. The Fitness Program Supervisor performs all duties in-person at UWM campus facilities. Hours are primarily first shift but may be adjusted as needed.
University Recreation (UREC) is a student focused and student facing department. UREC's facilities, programs, and services, including the needs of the students, members, and colleagues we serve, are best met in an on-site, in-person format. As such, it is the expectation that UREC staff will work on-site and in-person during designated work times.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology or closely related field
One year of related work experience (2 years as Graduate Assistant work is considered 1 year)
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Kinesiology or closely related field (OR on target for Masters program completion by September 1, 2023)
Group Exercise Instructor certification from a national certifying agency
Personal Training certification from a national certifying agency
Experience managing fitness programs and services in a college or university setting
Experience instructing group fitness classes
Experience training, supervising, and mentoring part-time fitness staff
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders within and across disciplines, departments, and organizations
Experience delivering instruction to and/or facilitating programming for diverse populations

This is a 12-month full-time Academic Staff position. This position comes with a competitive salary and benefit package. The starting salary offer will be dependent upon the finalist’s experience and qualifications.
