The Assistant Director, Violence Prevention & Education reports to the Associate Director, Prevention & Education and supports the department’s efforts to advance the health and well-being of the Ohio University community. The Assistant Director provides training leadership, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation related to the delivery of violence prevention programming including but not limited to, sexual assault, partner violence, stalking, bystander intervention (Green Dot), and anti-hazing approaches. These efforts are directed toward primary prevention and centered on evidence-based public health approaches including creating, mobilizing, and sustaining upstream inclusive practices and policies that foster university-wide well-being. Works collaboratively with other campus partners and key stakeholders to provide programming and support to benefit student health and well-being. Provides culturally relevant services to communities that have been historically underserved by anti-violence movements to advance health equity. Additionally, the position oversees the delivery of online programming related to state and federal requirements addressing sexual assault and anti-hazing. Lastly, the Assistant Director communicates effectively both verbally and in writing to prepare and deliver presentations, prepare reports, correspondence, program assessments, emails, and other materials for a variety of audiences.
Coordinator, Challenge Programming & Course Operations (NEW POSITION)
The Coordinator of Challenge Programming & Course Operations reports to the Assistant Director, Outdoor Recreation & Education and provides leadership, strategic planning, administration, and day-to-day decision-making for the safe, inclusive, efficient, and effective operation of a comprehensive collegiate challenge course program within the Department of Well-Being & Recreation. This position will foster health and well-being across the diverse OHIO community through engagement, empowerment, and inclusion. Primary areas of responsibility include direct supervision of the Challenge Course facility and high, low, and mobile team and leadership development programming and its related operational staff, outdoor equipment, policies and procedures, course maintenance and risk management operation. This position will assist with cultivating strategic partnerships with the division, campus, and community constituents to support and advance the department’s mission to enhance student well-being and expand the challenge program experience. Additional areas of responsibility include assistance with the delivery of the Outdoor Pursuits program by facilitating program policies and procedures, monitoring program budgets and resources, and maintaining risk management policies. Lastly, the Coordinator is expected to promote and facilitate effective communication and collaboration across all efforts of the department, division, university, and community partners.
The Coordinator of Competitive Sports reports to the Assistant Director, Competitive Sports & Community Programming and provides leadership, strategic planning, administration, and day-to-day decision-making for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of a comprehensive collegiate club sports program within the Department of Well-Being & Recreation. This position will foster health and well-being across the Club Sports community through engagement, empowerment, and inclusion. Primary areas of responsibility include direct supervision of club sports student personnel, advisement of club officers and the Club Sports Executive Council, promoting club member leadership and development, developing and facilitating program policies and procedures, monitoring club budgets and the allocation of program resources, and establishing risk management policies. Secondary responsibility includes assistance with the delivery of the Intramural Sports program. Lastly, the Coordinator of Competitive Sports is expected to promote and facilitate effective communication and collaboration across all efforts of the department, university, and community partners to deliver a safe, quality end-user experience with Ohio University.
Master’s degree in public health administration, Health Promotion, Health Education or Policy, Higher Education Administration/Student Affairs, Criminal Justice, or related degree (an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be substituted for the degree requirement)
