| 55% INTRAMURAL SPORTS Coordinates the development, and implementation of the comprehensive and complex Intramural Sports Program that includes a diverse offering of individual, dual, and team sport activities for the OSU community in conjunction with the Intramural Sports Manager. Provides coordination and oversight of intramural leagues and events, including activity implementation, officials training, and participant conduct. Coordinates the day-to-day direction of the Intramural Sports Program to develop, implement, evaluate, and iterate community building leagues and events to contribute to the well-being of students and the campus community. Works in partnership with Sport Programs staff to successfully implement intramural activities while adhering to university, department, and national governing body policies, procedures, and safety/risk management regulations. Plans and sustains a comprehensive sport officials development program: including coordination of recruitment, hiring, training, development, corrective action, and retention of student sports officials for all team/league sports as well as other leagues and special events. Conducts continual assessment and management of all sports officials through direct observation and supervision during evening and weekend competitions and events. Works in conjunction on the development of annual Intramural Sports budget and works within the predetermined budget to make purchases, etc. Supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Intramural Sports Program risk management plan. Advises on discipline for violation of Intramural Sports Program policy and works in consultation with OSU Student Conduct Office on student code of conduct matters. Works with the Intramural Sports Manager to develop and schedule annual/quarterly intramural activity schedule including facilities, equipment, marketing, and maintenance. Supports the management and organization of the intramural registration process and manager’s meetings. Administers and maintains recreational management software (IMLeagues) that supports league, activity, participant, and management, as well as official and game scheduling. Markets and promotes Intramural Sports activity in conjunction with department and university marketing/branding guidelines, including recruitment of student officials.
20% SUPERVISION Hires, trains, schedules, supervises, assigns work, and evaluates student personnel including student staff (senior sport program associates, sport program associates), and practicum/internship students. Included in the management of student staff is the supervision and oversight of approximately 150 student sport officials. Coordinates, plans, implements, and evaluates outcome based developmental trainings and meetings for student staff and sport club coaches. Supports the Sport Club program with onsite supervision of student participants, contracted officials, volunteers, and coaches,
15% SPORT CLUBS Assists with the delivery and advising of the Sport Club Program that includes a diverse offering of student sport club teams. When supporting Sport Clubs, works in partnership (facilitator model) with student leaders and clubs to successfully implement sport club activities while adhering to university, department, and national governing body policies, procedures, and safety/risk management regulations. Supports the implementation, and evaluation of outcome-based leadership training for sport club leaders, members, and coaches. When needed, advises, and approves club activity including practices, games, tournaments, events, financial accounts, purchase requests, payments, and travel. Supports the review and submission of sport club contracts, agreements, and permits for approval through university Procurement and Contract Services. Assists with review and approval of sport club marketing/promotion in conjunction with department and university marketing/branding guidelines. Maintains knowledge of online sport club database registration and management of membership, activity, equipment, coach information, reports/evaluations, marketing/promotion requests, budget/sponsorship requests, and awards. Assists the Sport Club Manager with onsite support and supervision of student leaders and clubs to successfully implement sport club activities.
5% SPORT PROGRAM OUTREACH As directed by the Intramural Sports Manager, collaborates with the Sport Programs Staff to identify, develop, and establish relationships for the Sport Program area within the department and across campus to advance and add value to the OSU student experience. The outreach efforts contribute to department, Student Affairs and OSU initiatives and priorities enhancing wellness, leadership, community, and a sense of belonging.
5% GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES Participates in the development of Sports Program area long term and short-term strategic planning in areas of programs, personnel, department policies, budgets, and facilities and risk management. Represents Recreational Sports at division, university, and community levels in areas such as, committee work, program development and community engagement.
