Fitness - The Fitness Graduate Assistant will assist the Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness in the overall organization and administration of a comprehensive fitness program with an emphasis in PersonalTraining, Group Fitness, Small Group Training, and the Functional Training Area. This position will also provide opportunities for experience and collaboration with marketing and facilities. Competitive Sports - The Graduate Assistant for Competitive Sports assists with the administration, development, implementation, and evaluation of both the Intramural Sports and Club Sports programs. Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports, the competitive sports graduate assistant will support the management student employees, assist with IM Sports operations, oversee club sports travel and competition schedules, and collaborate with other department areas to create engaging and innovative programming. Facility Operations - The Facility Operations Graduate Assistant will assist the Assistant Director of Facilities in managing the day to day operations of University Recreation within the Campus Center. This will include management of facility, administrative, and technician student staff, operating supplies, repairs and replacement of equipment, payroll and CPR/AED/ First Aid training. The Facility Operations Graduate Assistant is expected to assist with special events held within the Campus Center as well as mandatory University events. Outdoor Recreation - The Graduate Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the development of creative outdoor education and special event programming among Adventure Trip, Climbing Wall, and Rental Center operations. This position is influential in the growth of this program, it will help assist in the strategic planning process to help shape and steer the outdoor program. This position is accomplished by mentoring students, giving significant feedback, assisting in Trip Leader trainings, aiding in the marketing and outreach of all components, as well as administrative assistance with payroll, staff scheduling, and managing a budget. Event Operations - The Event Operations Graduate Assistant will be responsible for managing the day to day event operations of University Recreation within the Campus Center. This will include facility reservations, operating supplies, payroll and management of student staff to include First Aid and CPR/AED training. The Event Operations Graduate Assistant is expected to assist with special events held within the Campus Center as well as mandatory University events as needed such as move-in day, graduation, orientation, convocation, etc. This position requires a flexible schedule including non-traditional work hours and other duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in related field, admission into a University of West Georgia graduate program, demonstrated knowledge or experience in a campus recreation program, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and professionalism and willingness to learn.
STIPEND:$10,000 for a 9-month appointment and a full tuition waiver. Professional development funding and summer employment are available.
