Creighton University is hiring for a Director of Recreation + Wellness. 

In this critical role, you will lead the Recreation + Wellness department by providing a NIRSA-based vision for programming, wellness initiatives, and facility usage. Develops a student-focused and service-oriented plan to deliver programs and services to the campus community. Develops and maintains partnerships within the Creighton and Omaha community to promote the holistic development of students and members, highlighting the eight dimensions of wellness within the Ignatian tradition.  Serves as a university leader, advancing Student Life’s goals of Integrated Wellness for Creighton students.

Responsibilities

• Leads the Department of Recreation + Wellness, supervising and providing guidance to professional staff, support staff, and student staff.
• Studies and proposes departmental budget needs and formulates a plan of action to meet budget expectations.
• Studies, assess, and reports on programs and facility services' effectiveness and efficiency in meeting department goals. Review policies and procedures to meet customer needs; meets with student/KFC members one-on-one and advisory committee members.  
• Draft office communications to members, other departments, e-mail/phone university contacts, and monthly reports. Appraises all departmental promotional media: print, web page, and vendor contacts.
• Works with Housing and Auxiliary Services for facility reservation requests and contracts. Serves as liaison to organizations planning activities/events in Recreation + Wellness facilities. Manages major university events held in Recreation + Wellness Facilities.
• Serves on the Student Life leadership team and facilitates efforts to advance goals of the Integrated Wellness area.  Attends Student Life and University meetings and activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors' Degree in recreation, sports management, physical education, leisure services, exercise science or related degree. Master's Degree preferred.
• 5 -7 years related experience in recreation management, fitness, and/or wellness.
• 2-4 years of management experience required.
• CPR and First Aid.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Knowledge of budget development and oversight practices and principles.
• Knowledge of management practices
• Skill in developing and coaching others
