Full-time Professional Administrative Staff Position. Responsible for assisting with the planning, organizing, and directing of the daily operations and personnel of the fitness program. The successful candidate will manage a comprehensive Fitness and Wellness program to include: staff development, group fitness, personal training, nutrition education, activity challenges, virtual wellness, and incentive programs for Sam Houston State University students. Supervised by the Associate Director, Programs and Assessment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Organizes, develops, and manages, with the support of staff and student personnel, the Fitness and Wellness program.
Interviews, hires, trains, schedules, and evaluates student and support staff including a Graduate Assistant, Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers.
Formulates and recommends policy, procedural, and rule changes. Interprets policies within each program and facility.
Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Two years full-time paid experience in a professional, supervisory capacity of a recreation oriented program.
Preferred Qualifications:
Group exercise or personal training certifications in ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM/CSCS, NSCA, Cooper, NDEITA/NETA, or other national level certification
NIRSA Membership.
