Graduate Assistant Coach, ACHA Division 1
Ohio University ACHA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey is looking for candidates to fill the role of graduate assistant coach. The position is in charge of all duties related to the running of a perennial national contending ACHA Division I team. This includes coaching, scouting, recruiting, and assisting with practices. Candidate will also be involved with miscellaneous events when needed pertaining to Ohio University's Department of Student Affairs an University Well being and Recreation, under which Bird Arena resides. The Graduate Assistant, Facility Operations is an integral part of the Well-being & Recreation Team. This position works with student facility staff and maintenance staff to ensure efficient and proper use of Bird Ice Arena. In addition, the Graduate Assistant, Facility Operations is expected to promote and facilitate effective communication and collaboration across all efforts of the department, university and community partners.
The Reservation and Events Graduate Assistant with Well-Being and Recreation provides support and guidance through the reservation and scheduling process of each of WAR facilities and special programs to ensure consistent and exceptional service, provide patrons with a quality experience and continue a commitment to customer communication and engagement. The Reservation and Events Graduate Assistant will assist in reservations and rentals for a variety of populations including Community users, Reoccurring Private Renters, University Departments, Intercollegiate Athletics, Student Orgs, Campus and Conferences, all WAR Areas.
The Graduate Assistant will work with the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports and Coordinator of Competitive Sports to provide leadership, strategic planning, administration and day-to-day operations of intramural and club sports programs within the Department of Well-Being & Recreation. Primary areas of responsibility include supervision of 50 competitive sports student personnel, oversight of intramural programs, advising club sport officers and Club Sports Executive Council, and assisting in the planning of clubs and program budget. In addition, the Graduate Assistant of Competitive Sports is expected to promote and facilitate effective communication and collaboration across all efforts of the department, university and community partners.
The Aquatic Center Graduate Assistant will assist with daily functions of the Aquatic Center with a strong focus on human resources, operations and event management. This position will also work closely with the Assistant Director of the Aquatic Center on developing and implementing student trainings, human resources, reservations and event management. This position works closely with Well-Being and Recreation professionals and graduate assistants to develop a fully integrated recreation program and focuses on the inclusion and well-being of OHIO students and the campus community.
The goal of the position is to involve the Outdoor Pursuits GA in all aspects of the administration of a university outdoor pursuits program, with emphasis on trip programming, challenge course programming, logistics and gear management, and climbing wall management. The Outdoor Pursuits GA is expected to have commitment to upholding the mission, vision, and values of University Well-Being and Recreation, along with dedication towards providing an equitable and inclusive experience to patrons, participants, and fellow-staff members.
The Graduate Assistant, Violence Prevention & Education reports to the Associate Director, Prevention & Education and serves in a supporting role in the Office of Health Promotion which supports the department's efforts to advance the health and well-being of the Ohio University community. The Graduate Assistant assists with the leadership, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of theory-based and evidence-informed well-being and general health promotion strategies. These efforts are directed toward creating, mobilizing and sustaining upstreaming practices and policies that support a holistic view of health and foster university-wide well-being. This position assists with all power-based personal violence programming related, but not limited to, sexual assault, bystander intervention, hazing, harm reduction, and consent education. In addition, this position assists with planning and executing strategies advocating community care, addressing public health issues, and providing opportunities to implement well-being and healthy living into daily life. The Graduate Assistant will promote and facilitate effective communication and collaboration across all efforts of the department, university and community partners and key stakeholders. Lastly, the Graduate Assistant will provide the Office of Health Promotion with leadership and education to the peer health educators on areas of expertise.
The Graduate Assistant, AOD Prevention & Public Health Education reports to the Associate Director, Prevention & Education and serves in a supporting role in the Office of Health Promotion which supports the department's efforts to advance health and well-being of the Ohio University community. The Graduate Assistant assists with the leadership, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of theory-based and evidence-informed well-being and general health promotion strategies. These efforts are directed toward creating, mobilizing and sustaining upstreaming practices and policies that supports a holistic view of health and fosters university-wide well-being. This position assists with planning and executing strategies addressing alcohol and substance abuse, advocating community care, addressing public health issues, and providing opportunities to implement well-being and healthy living into daily life. The Graduate Assistant will promote and facilitate effective communication and collaboration across all efforts of the department, university and community partners and key stakeholders. Lastly, the Graduate Assistant will provide the Office of Health Promotion with leadership and education to the peer health educators on areas of expertise.
Graduate Assistants at Ohio University receive a $13,500 annual stipend for 20 hours of work per week or 300 hours per semester and $14.17/hour during Academic Breaks
A job offer is contingent on acceptance into an Ohio University graduate program. This position includes an appointment for up to 2 years depending on academic commitment and performance.
Well-Being & Recreation will provide a stipend, however, a tuition waiver is dependent on approval from your academic department and is not guaranteed.
Graduate Assistants will be expected to report for on-boarding, training and semester preparation in early August. The final date is to be determined.
