The Health Promotion Specialist will lead the implementation of a comprehensive student health promotion program to enhance health promoting environments, wellness practices, and student well-being.
The position will use evidence-informed strategies to implement an effective peer education program, wellness programs, educational initiatives, and assessment efforts that align with the department and university mission. The Health Promotion Specialist will lead the student peer education program, Culinary Corner, and related outreach programs and activities. This position will also supervise assigned student employees working to improve student well-being. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Wellness Programs.
Position Responsiblities (condensed):
Lead the strategy, development, and implementation of comprehensive health promotion and Peer Education program to enhance healthy environments and overall student wellness & well-being.
Provide leadership and oversight of health promotion programs, events, and educational outreach.
Responsible for the assessment, evaluation, and reporting of health promotion programs, initiatives, and overall campus well-being outcomes.
Bachelors degree in Health and Wellness Promotion, Health Education, Public Health, Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field.
Work experience in programs and events (development, planning, and/or implementation)
Certification in first aid, CPR/AED within 2 months of hire.
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree: Nursing, community/public/corporate health/fitness, health promotion, dietetics, or a related field.
One years supervisory experience.
Experience in collegiate/university health
Experience in program and budget management.
Experience providing direction to, training, instructing and mentoring students in a university or college environment.
Experience applying health promotion, behavior change, and public health theories and models; evidence-informed health promotion programs; and environmental change strategies/socio-ecological model to a student population
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) certification or related.
