Responsible for providing and promoting opportunities for the Texas State community to participate in recreational activities and resources.
Program Management
Assist in management of Fitness & Wellness program including group fitness and wellness programming, personal training and weight room operations.
Coordinate and manage day to day operations of Fitness & Wellness program/facility, including facility supervision, point of sale processes, website maintenance and implementing operational policies and procedures.
Develop proposals and implement new ideas for the improvement of overall operations and growth of programs/services/usage.
Collaborate with the marketing department to coordinate program area promotion to campus and community.
Develop and conduct assessments of program goals annually. Report assessment results to leadership as documentation of programmatic outcomes supporting department and division goals.
Coordinate the proposal, marketing, and hosting of fitness and wellness-focused special events and programming throughout the academic year.
Staff Development and Oversight
Work with the Assistant Director-Fitness & Wellness to recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate approximately 60 student staff, including but limited to, 1 program manager, 15-20 student group fitness instructors, 10-15 student personal trainers, and 10-15 student weight room attendants .
Conduct routine trainings and meetings with student staff and develop student staff schedules.
Coordinate the implementation of continuing education in-services for all Fitness & Wellness student staff.
Administration and Budget Management
Work with Assistant Director in the completion of overall area budget.
Use budget forecasting models to project future payroll, equipment, operating expenses, and revenue. Monitor income and expenses.
Purchase appropriate equipment and supplies as needed, with supervisor’s approval.
Approve student staff time and ensure compliance with payroll and purchasing processes.
Risk Management and Safety
Ensure compliance of staff with industry standard safety and risk management practices, facility and equipment inspections, and existing Campus Recreation policies and procedures
Acquire American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification within first year of employment.
Assist with department wide safety refreshers, drills and trainings.
Other Duties
Actively participate in departmental programs and projects designed to support the mission and goals of the university, division, and department.
Serve on committees and task forces, as assigned.

This position requires a flexible work schedule which at times will require frequent attendance during evenings and weekends. Additional hours may be required during peak periods.
Required
Minimum of one year of professional work experience within campus recreation or related health/wellness field.
Preferred
Additional certifications/specializations in fitness and wellness (Pilates, Nutrition Counseling, etc.).
Certified Group Fitness Instructor through a nationally accredited organization or ability to obtain within 45 days.
Certified Personal Trainer through a nationally accredited organization or ability to obtain within 45 days.
