Job Summary The Fitness Coordinator will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of diverse fitness programs, including group fitness, personal training, massage therapy, and special events, while ensuring excellence in staff recruitment, training, and performance management. This role involves collaborating with campus stakeholders to promote student wellness, managing program budgets, and using data-driven insights to enhance program effectiveness. Additionally, the Coordinator will work to create a vibrant and engaging fitness environment that supports member participation and satisfaction throughout the year. Responsibilities
Coordinate, develop, implement, schedule, supervise, and evaluate comprehensive programs for group fitness, personal training, small group training, and special events.
Assist with recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of part-time, student, and tech temp staff. Foster excellence through regular staff meetings, training sessions, and ongoing coaching conversations.
Create an engaging and supportive experience for part-time and student staff, ensuring they meet certification requirements and to help deliver outstanding customer service. Monitor and track staff certifications, agreements, and overall performance.
Partner with campus stakeholders to promote physical health and wellness across the institute. Develop comprehensive fitness programs for students and work collaboratively to impact the campus community positively.
Develop and manage program budgets, monitor payroll for part-time and student staff, and maintain documentation for financials and supplies.
Track program participation, gather feedback, and analyze data to refine offerings and enhance member satisfaction. Utilize insights to drive strategic decisions and continuously improve program effectiveness.
Collaborate with the marketing team to design and implement a dynamic, year-long promotional plan that attracts, retains, and serves our members. Elevate our fitness programs through innovative marketing strategies.

Must be well organized and able to prioritize work, problem solve, make decisions, and meet scheduled deadlines under pressure
KNOWLEDGE
Previous experience in a management/leadership position supervising staff
Must have a working knowledge of fitness and be aware of current trends in fitness and wellness
Experience with building cooperative working relationships with a wide range of students, faculty, and staff
Holistic fitness programming and collaboration experience, special event management, and related extra-curricular experience and/or student development experiences
Knowledge, experience, and expertise in exercise physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics and nutrition. As well as strength training, health/fitness assessments, personal training, and group fitness
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Kinesiology/Exercise Science Health, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Certifications, Licenses or Permits: Group fitness instructor and personal training certification through an organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). Examples of organizations meeting this qualification include ACE (American Council on Exercise), ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine), NSCA (National Strength & Conditioning Association), National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA). Current CPR certification
Required Experience Two or more years of job-related experience
Preferred Qualifications: National Certification in ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine), CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists), Health Coaching, Certified Health Education Specialist, Yoga instructor certification, indoor cycling instructor, or CPR/FA Instructor certification
