Competitive Sports Graduate Assistant: The Department of Campus Recreation services the PSU community by providing recreation programs and facilities that are clean, welcoming and safe while fostering self-discovery, learning, responsibility, engagement, sportsmanship and an appreciation for overall personal wellness. We’re searching for our next Competitive Sports Graduate Assistant as we strive to meet our departmental and campus needs.
Intramural Sports at PSU is the one of the largest student programs on campus. This program traditionally offers over 30 different sports and activities with an average of 3500 participants each year. Our Club Sports program is a few years old and in the growing stages. It currently has 6 active clubs. Position Duties, Responsibilities and Preferred Qualifications: Intramural Sports
Train, develop and schedule Intramural Officials in league sports and assist with the development and oversight of Competitive Sports Supervisor staff
Developing and conducting officials’ training clinics
Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating sports officials/supervisors for intramural activities in major team sports
Promoting, marketing, planning and scheduling all intramural team and individual/dual sports
Assisting with student payroll and budget planning
Policy development
Assist with the equipment inventory/purchasing process
Assist the Associate Director policy and rule review.
Serve as SRC facility manager as needed.
Weekend, special event, and evening hours are ocassionally required.
Additional duties as assigned to assist in the overall mission of the department.
Conduct player education/disciplinary meetings as needed
Club Sports
Work directly with club officers in planning and coordination of travel, home event requests, and other club events both on and off campus for the clubs
Develop and oversee administration of policies and procedures for the entire Club Sports program
Conduct and lead Club Sports officer meetings.
Hire, train, schedule, supervise and manage club sport supervisors
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Sport Management, Recreation or related field Admission into a PSU graduate program; Experience in intramural sports programming, officials training, professionalism, club sport/ student organizations and willingness to learn; excellent verbal and written communication; motivation, enthusiasm, and attention to detail; Supervisory experience; current First Aid/CPR certification.
