Acting under the direct supervision of the professional staff of the Department of Fitness and Recreation, these positions will assist in the supervision and delivery of daily activities of the Beaman Center and Fitness and Recreation programs. Responsibilities Include:
Assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Beaman Center, including but not limited to, managing the facility outside of traditional business hours and on weekends, supervising 50-60 student employees, logging facility and equipment maintenance issues, and executing risk management procedures, as needed
Assisting with the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of student employees
Creating professional development programs and opportunities for student employees
Marketing and promotion of departmental and programing area specific brand
Collecting and analyzing pertinent assessment data in reports submitted on a weekly, per-semester, annual, and per-event basis
Assisting with the execution of special events and educational programs, as needed

Facility Operations and Student Development
The Graduate Assistant for Facility Operations and Student Development (FOSD GA) plays a key role in overseeing daily operations and student engagement within the Beaman Center. This position aligns closely with university goals and strategic priorities, ensuring facility spaces are well-maintained, safe, and accessible. The FOSD GA collaborates with other Graduate Assistants to create an effective and seamless experience for FitRec members, contributing to operational protocols, facility scheduling, and employee training initiatives. Additionally, this role is pivotal in developing student staff leadership skills, supporting training programs, and enhancing service standards.
Fitness Programming and Special Events
The Graduate Assistant Fitness Programming is responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of special events and fitness programming. This position advances the university’s commitment to wellness and community engagement by organizing innovative group fitness classes and high-impact events that cater to diverse fitness levels and interests. Working closely with the Graduate Assistant of Personal Training and Educational Programs, this position ensures programming fosters both educational value and participant engagement. Responsibilities include class scheduling, instructor coordination, program marketing, and assessment of participant feedback.
Personal Training and Educational Programs
The Graduate Assistant for Personal Training and Educational Programming (PTEP GA) is tasked with overseeing the Personal Training services and spearheading educational wellness programs, such as WELL-Core. The role involves developing fitness and wellness education initiatives that align with departmental priorities and university goals, providing patrons with resources and skills for lifelong health and wellness. This position collaborates with the Graduate Assistant of Fitness Programming and Special Events to create a comprehensive, engaging FitRec experience. Key responsibilities include client assessments, program development, staff training, and feedback analysis.
Marketing and Strategic Engagement
The Graduate Assistant for Marketing and Strategic Engagement (MSE GA) is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies that promote FitRec facilities, programs, and services. This role enhances brand visibility and communication efforts, aligning all promotional content with university goals and strategic priorities. This position works with other Graduate Assistants to ensure consistent messaging, fostering a positive FitRec brand experience across all channels. Core duties include social media management, content creation, campaign analysis, engagement tracking, and staff management.
Intramural Sports and Informal Recreation
The Graduate Assistant for Intramural Sports and Recreational Programming is responsible for leading the intramural sports programs and supporting informal recreation activities, directly contributing to departmental and university objectives. The ISIR GA organizes leagues, tournaments, and drop-in events, ensuring a diverse range of recreational opportunities accessible to all students. Working closely with the Assistant Director of Fitness and Recreation, this position oversees program planning, participant recruitment, and on-site coordination, while also focusing on sportsmanship and safety within each activity. This role supports FitRec’s mission by fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages social engagement, physical activity, and campus community building.
Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field
Enrollment in Belmont University Graduate Studies program, knowledge and experience in recreational facility and program management preferred, strong interpersonal communication skills, as well as organizational and supervisory skills
Maintaining at least 6 hours of credit per semester to be eligible
