Fitness Program Overview:
The Graduate Assistant for Fitness reports to the Assistant Director of Fitness in the Department of Wellness. The GA will serve as a member of the fitness program leadership team and will be responsible for assisting professional staff in the management and/or instruction of a variety of fitness programs including group fitness, F45, employee fitness programs, youth-performance training, personal training, health risk assessments, and specialty programs. Within this role, there is freedom to develop new programming while also upholding previous, successful programs.
Position Duties:
Maintain daily office hours.
Work scheduled shifts in areas of fitness expertise, certification and specialization.
Assist with fitness program promotion, registration and scheduling of activities, sessions, and events.
Develop and lead trainings for group fitness instructors and/or personal trainers.
Update and review necessary manuals ensuring policies and procedures are accurate and assist in all risk management procedures.
Provide ongoing evaluation, feedback, and assessment of the fitness programs, including formal staff evaluations and event reports.
Assist with the planning and tracking of fitness equipment and facility maintenance.
Attend fitness events and serve as a positive role model for staff and participants.
Work as a contributing member of the fitness program staff towards the accomplishment of program and departmental objectives.

As a result of being a graduate assistant at Oklahoma State University, you will be able to demonstrate OSU’s Ideal Graduate Competencies, including professional preparedness, engaged citizenship, ethical leadership, and personal responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred undergraduate degrees include Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Health Promotion or Public Health.
Candidates should hold current certifications in personal training, group fitness instructor or strength & conditioning through a nationally accredited organization (such as ACSM, NASM, NSCA, etc.).
Note: Graduate Assistants are responsible for university fees.
Monthly stipend of $1,500 for 9.5 months
