The Coordinator of Sport Clubs is an essential member of the UREC team, providing direct supervision and support to recreational, instructional, and competitive clubs to ensure their smooth operation, safety, and compliance with University Recreation and registered student organization policies.
The Coordinator of Sport Clubs is responsible for assisting with providing leadership, supervision, and administrative oversight to a diverse range of sport club teams. This role supports the administration and development of sport clubs by working with student leaders to administer club activities, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and fostering a positive and safe environment for all participants. The Coordinator will assist with the oversight of program daily operations and serve as a resource for club officers and members.
Program Management (30%)
Assist in the daily operations of all sport club teams, ensuring compliance with university policies, safety protocols, and best practices
Plan, schedule, and manage club practices and events
Assist in the development and enforcement of safety standards, including emergency procedures, safety training, and incident reporting protocols
Attend and actively participate in Sport Club Executive Council meetings
Assist with ensuring all sport clubs adhere to established policies and procedures, including facility usage, conduct, travel, and competition guidelines
Meet regularly with assigned clubs and officers
Fiscal Management (30%)
Track expenditures and maintain accurate financial records
Assist with allocating funds to clubs based on their needs, performance, and compliance with program requirements
Support clubs in developing fundraising strategies, securing sponsorships, and managing club-generated funds responsibly
Assist with overseeing the purchasing of allocated equipment, supplies, and uniforms
Prepare financial reports and ensure all financial activities are conducted under university regulations
Student Supervision and Advising (20%)
Provide leadership development, training, and support for club officers and executive council members, helping them effectively manage their teams
Conduct workshops, training sessions, and meetings to equip club officers and members with skills in leadership, conflict resolution, and event management.
Supervise assigned student employees
Department Leadership and Administration (10%)
Actively participate as a member of the UREC professional staff team, including professional staff team meetings
Ensure that the UREC mission is achieved and values are upheld
Contribute to the development and implementation of department strategic plans and annual goals/priorities
Advocate for UREC and foster campus and community partnerships to advance physical activity and holistic wellbeing
General Administration (10%)
Attend and actively participate in all mandatory Health & Wellbeing Unit, Student Affairs, and UNC Charlotte meetings and trainings
Serve on Health & Wellbeing Unit, Student Affairs, and UNC Charlotte committee and working groups as assigned
Represent UREC on the Health & Wellbeing Outreach and Engagement Committee
Actively participate in NIRSA and/or other relevant professional associations
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Sport Clubs
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in higher education, recreation, sport management, kinesiology, or a related field
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
1-3 years of experience working with sport clubs, recreation programs, or athletics administration is preferred
Strong communication and organizational skills
Knowledge of governing bodies for sport clubs, league regulations, and safety standards.
Necessary Certifications/Licenses
American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
