For All Graduate Coordinator Positions:
Attend bi-weekly departmental leadership meetings

Compensation/Expectations for All Graduate Coordinator Positions:
20 hours weekly, 12-month commitment (summers & winter break increase to 25 hrs weekly) beginning July 7, 2025, but could start earlier
$13,500 stipend or $17,500 (if housing is not needed) and full tuition waiver for full-time enrollment (in and out of state)
Second year staff may not get the full stipend if they leave the department prior to end of commitment
On Campus furnished townhouse provided (Approx. $14k package includes all utilities)
Total package worth approximately $44,000 annually (not including professional development)
$500 on the Rowan Card each semester, which can be used for food/books
Professional development funding potentially available for conferences, workshops, certifications, and is contingent on budget allocation
Full funding of tuition is up to 36 credit hours over 2 academic years
Funding beyond 36 credit hours will be reviewed and approved by the Director
Annual 60 hours of PTO available and approved by the direct supervisor
Graduate Coordinator is responsible for University fees, books, and health insurance
Summer class and external employment requests may be made to your direct supervisor for review and approval
Additional employment outside of the Campus Recreation must be reviewed and approved by your direct supervisor

Graduate Coordinator of Aquatics and Safety The position will support the Assistant Director of Aquatics with the overall organization and administrative duties for the aquatic program, facility operations, and departmental safety/risk management initiatives. This position will assist with the supervision and operations of the 8 lane, 25 yard natatorium housed within the Rowan University Student Recreation Center and oversight of approximately 45 student staff.
Specific Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
Aquatics Operations and Programming
Assist with the daily management and programming efforts for one 25 yard indoor pool located in the Student Recreation Center
Assist in pool facility maintenance including water chemistry, pump room operations and record keeping for required state inspections
Continually develop, update and implement aquatics policies and operating manuals
Coordinate and oversee aquatic special events and instructional programs to include youth and adult private and group swim lessons, American Red Cross safety training and other courses as appropriate
Fill in as lifeguard when student employees are unable to work scheduled shift or during unassigned shifts
Student Development, Training and Supervision
Recruit, motivate, hire, train, mentor and evaluate all aquatics staff (approximately 25 lifeguards, 2 lifeguard supervisor, 1 swim lesson supervisor and 15 swim instructors)
Assist in the supervision and continued development of the entire Aquatics student staff
Serve as liaison between professional and student staff with efforts focused on communication of department initiatives and training staff performance and efficiencies
Assist with the coordination and execution of aquatic in-services, monthly staff meetings, new staff on-boarding procedures, and help support the lifeguard supervisor(s) with scheduling and scheduling issues that might arise
Risk Management and Safety
Assist the Assistant Director of Aquatics to coordinate and implement all risk management initiatives from the department
Assist in the scheduling and operational needs for staff certifications with American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED and Lifeguard training
Oversee campus recreation injury reporting database and communicate with the Assistant Director of Aquatics regarding mandatory reporting processes by the university/division
Assist in departmental trainings of emergency response protocols for injuries, hazards and facility/equipment malfunctions
Coordinate regular facility and equipment inspections for risks and hazards
Assist with the development and management of departmental risk management, including: drills, emergency protocols and safety quizzes
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into a graduate program at Rowan University
Valid License and/or ability to obtain valid Driver’s License required
Experience working in a recreation setting with aquatics knowledge
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, both verbal and written
This position requires someone who is willing to work in a team environment to provide and uphold our quality service standards
Possess a current American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED certification and experience working as a lifeguard
The ability to lift 25 pounds or more
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in health, wellness, recreation, physical education, leisure studies or related field
1-2 years working within areas of campus recreation sport facilities and event operations
Experience supervising student staff
Knowledge in working with google drive and microsoft office applications

Graduate Coordinator of Intramural Sports & Special Events This position provides supervision of the Intramural Sports and Special Events program, including creation and administration of all sports & events throughout the calendar year. The Graduate Coordinator will assist with all hiring, training, and development of approximately 30 student employees and will serve an active role in promoting the growth of Campus Recreation as a department on campus. The goal of this position is to both build on the intramural sports & special event offerings and to develop this individual into a well-rounded and fully-prepared Campus Recreation professional.
Specific Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
Intramural Sports Programming
Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive intramural sports program
consisting of all team sports, individual/dual sports, and special events utilizing IMLeagues software
Oversee coordination of team sports and special events alongside student program coordinators
Create at least one new “non-traditional” intramural sport per semester with the focus of bringing more international sport offerings to Rowan University
Coordinate with the marketing department to promote intramural team sports,
individual/dual sports, and special events through a variety of mediums (print, social media, e-mail announcers, etc.)
Lead new marketing initiatives with goal of attracting additional participants to intramural
sport offerings including drop-in events, face-to-face marketing initiatives, and other creative options
Assist with intramural policy development, ejected player meetings, and equipment inventory/purchasing
Utilize various online, video, and technology platforms for staff training, information, quizzes, and assessment
Develop participant surveys and focus groups to assess satisfaction and provide opportunity for suggestions
Attend at least one night/week of intramural sports programming to ensure quality & provide ongoing feedback to student officials & supervisors
Manage inventory and storage of intramural equipment in various storage spaces
Staff & Student Development
Direct and manage staff scheduling, substitutions, availability, training sessions, & meetings utilizing SubItUp scheduling software
Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate approximately 30 student program coordinators, supervisors, officials, and scorekeepers
Provide direct supervision of undergraduate student intramural program coordinators and help them develop effective training and evaluation materials for the program
Provide feedback for student officiating proficiency and give tangible examples for areas of improvement
Build connections with student staff and initiate conversations relating to their goals and aspirations beyond college and how their position can help them achieve those goals
Seek comments and suggestions from staff members and participants and decide which suggestions to implement and how to practically make changes
Special Event Responsibilities
Assist in planning, organizing, scheduling, implementing, and evaluating the Mid-Atlantic Basketball Officials Clinic in late January or early February each year
Promote NIRSA Championship Series Tournaments for student participants and staff
Collaborate with various departments and student organizations for special events including Late Night at the Rec, Homecoming Battleship, Cooper Medical School Challenge & Cooperative Cups, and any other special events throughout the academic year
Maintain accurate budgeting records for each special event to ensure fiscal responsibility
Create post-event summaries to include suggestions for future events
Organize volunteers and establish clear expectations for their role at each event
Coordinate reservations for indoor and outdoor recreation spaces using 25live scheduling software and departmental google calendar
Communicate usage of space with other departments and services including but not limited to building managers, main office assistants, sport club supervisors, aquatics staff, & group fitness instructors
Communicate with and secure necessary vendors, contracts, or purchase orders
Minimum Job Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into a graduate program at Rowan University Experience: 1-2 years working within areas of campus recreation sport programs, specifically with intramural sports

Graduate Coordinator of Operations This position provides oversight of fitness area assistants (40) that serve both indoor facilities, as well as program assistance, and facility supervision. The position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Facilities & Event Operations. The Assistant Director will work with the Graduate Coordinator to clearly communicate expectations, goals, timeliness, as well as provide constant feedback and evaluation. The position will oversee the maintenance and oversight of the free weight, selectorized, functional, and cardiovascular fitness equipment. The Graduate Coordinator will be expected to recruit, train, lead, mentor, and evaluate student fitness area staff that supervise the free weight, selectorized, functional, and cardiovascular fitness spaces in both facilities. The assistantship will provide the student with comprehensive, hands-on training to further enhance their professional development in the field of recreation and higher education.
Specific Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate approximately 35-40 diverse student staff comprising of fitness area assistants
Develop and lead regularly occurring staff meetings
Ensure that policies & procedures are properly communicated, interpreted, and implemented uniformly
Assist with all aspects of facility management, operations, and maintenance of the 17,000 square foot satellite fitness center
Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and contribute to an inclusive working and learning environment
Cultivate and maintain a high level of accessibility to students, members, and approved external partners while responding in an appropriate and timely manner to questions, concerns, requests, and feedback
Assist with evaluating and implementing protocols for emergency response for evacuations, injuries, and incidents
Assist with inventory and research necessary purchases for free weight, cardiovascular, functional, and selectorized equipment for the fitness center
Coordinate weekly inspection and maintenance of fitness center facility including fitness equipment and scheduling necessary repairs with Nexus Properties
Assist in coordinating daily disinfecting of fitness equipment and machines
Oversee inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies and miscellaneous equipment
Perform daily and/or weekly facility audits including maintenance, cleaning and repair work needed
Review current techniques and trends to implement best practices in facility management
Assist in evaluating and revising the Student Fitness Area Manual
Train and schedule for building manager shift (minimum 1 time per week) and assist with facility management
