University of Arkansas – Fayetteville is offering three graduate assistant positions. This is a two-year commitment with a renewable agreement pending a successful evaluation at the end of the first year. The Department of University Recreation is in search of candidates for the following Graduate Assistant positions:
The University Recreation Marketing Graduate Assistant supports the Marketing team in executing marketing strategies, programming, and membership initiatives, including retention and recruitment. Key responsibilities involve data collection and analysis to track social media and outreach performance, with findings presented weekly to drive informed marketing decisions. The graduate assistant also plans promotional events, coordinates marketing and media production, manages social media and website content, and oversees student photographers to ensure high-quality event coverage. Additional duties include budget management, purchasing, maintaining records, distributing marketing materials, and fostering student engagement and wellness.
The University Recreation Member Services Graduate Assistant will assist in the day-to-day operations and management of the University Recreation service center and assist in program administration. The position is responsible for the supervision of 30+ service center staff employees. Assist in management of informal recreation equipment, including purchasing, inventory, and reservations; hire, develop, supervise, and evaluate over 30 part-time service center student employees; enforce policies and procedures within the service center; maintain payroll for service center staff; conduct regular staff training and meetings; ensure service center staff comply with human resources policies; assist in the development and maintenance of program area budget; be knowledgeable in program and departmental policies, procedures, and software application; and teach American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid classes.
The position will also assist in the administrative duties of the UREC Main office and facilities, assist in day-to-day operations, including communication with participants, space reservations, and equipment inventory; and maintain comprehensive participation and program records for activity, semester, and annual reporting.
The University Recreation Wellness Graduate Assistant will assist the Assistant Director of Wellness with the day-to-day responsibilities of the University of Arkansas wellness and health promotion program. Specific Responsibilities: Assist with the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluation of the wellness coaching staff. Assist with outreach for students, faculty and staff in the University community through presentations, workshops, and special programs. Lead regular meetings and trainings for the Wellness Coaching Program. Assist Social Media Manager in the development of marketing campaigns for events, workshops, and other program offerings. Assist in the development, marketing, coordination, and evaluation of programs and special events related to the faculty and staff Wellness Certificate program and Wellness lunch and Learns. Maintain comprehensive records for semester and annual reports.
Other Program Responsibilities: Hold a caseload of no less than 3 wellness coaching clients per semester. Assist in collaborative department programming efforts, assist in student personnel and training programs, budget management, equipment and/or programming materials/supplies purchase and inventory, risk management, and program evaluation. Assist in the assessment of departmental goals as outlined in the strategic plan. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in recreation, sport management, higher education, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education with a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
Admission to a graduate degree program prior to employment is required (Note: GPA and GRE requirements are program specific and must be met prior to admission).
Must be able to start by July 1, 2025.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or currently completing a bachelor's degree preferably in Recreation, Kinesiology, Public Health, Health Promotion, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Communication, or related field of study from an accredited institution of higher education.
Experience working in a Campus Recreation or Campus Wellness & Health Promotion setting as a student employee.
Experience of assuming a leadership role within Campus Recreation or Campus Wellness & Health Promotion.
Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and supervisory skills.
CPR/First Aid/AED Certification and Instructor Certification or ability to obtain upon employment.
At least two years’ experience in recreation, collegiate/recreational sports, reservations, or facility operations [Member Services GA position only].
