Club Sports Intern Overview:
Under the supervision of the Club Sports Coordinator, the Club Sports Graduate Intern will:
Advise 5-10 Club Sports per year on travel, home events, finances, leadership development, and fundraising
Assist Coordinator with budget tracking for 55+ Club Sport Organizations
Oversee the Club Sport Council with assistance from the Club Sport Coordinator
Develop agendas and content for meetings, trainings, and workshops
Assist in recruiting, training, hiring, scheduling, evaluating, motivating, and developing student staff
Assist with Club Sport assessment strategies and data collection and analysis to provide meaningful improvements to the program
Provide professional site supervision at least one night per week
Embody and utilize the department's Mission, Vision, and Values to improve and maintain program excellence
Represent the Program and the Department of Recreation at other university-related events and conferences
Summer employment is available through our 8-week summer day camp program that serves children ages 5-11 and is hosted on campus.
Under the supervision of the Member Services Coordinator, this internship will familiarize the graduate intern with all staffing, scheduling and operational needs at our recreational facilities.
We are seeking applicants with an interest in recreation who are looking to gain experience in student staff development, leadership and recreation facility operations.
The Graduate Intern will be responsible for:
Assisting with all elements of hiring, scheduling, supervision, training and mentoring for 60-90 undergraduate and graduate student employees
Implementing business practices using Innosoft Fusion, DSERec, Smartsheet, and the Microsoft Office Suite
Reviewing facility schedules and arranging operational needs for facility reservations
Becoming familiarized with and implementing university and departmental risk management policies and procedures
Working closely with facility visitors to resolve operational and customer services concerns
Developing, maintaining and implementing operating manuals, as well as in-person and virtual trainings
Building community among staff members
Participating in staff meetings and staff development activities sponsored by the department, division and university
Performing other duties as assigned to support the department, division and university
