Liaise with athletics, Student Government offices, Registrar, Dean of Student and accountability offices, Housing, and other campus offices that partner with or support intramurals and club sport programs.
Actively engage in NIRSA (National Intramural Recreation and Sports Association), follow NIRSA best practices and develop peer relationships.
Collaborate on policies for facility use and update risk management procedures.
Coordinate facility use within RecWell resources and with partners (i.e. Athletics, Housing, use of Green, etc.)
Maintain the Comp Sports program pages on the department website.
Maintain risk management practices and program assessments.
Schedule facility and field space for programs they oversee. Work collaboratively with other facility managers for shared space (example: SWC or pool).
Cross train to support event manager role.
Intramurals
Oversee and manage the Intramural Sports program.
Plan, organize, and evaluate leagues and tournaments.
Hire, train, and supervise staff. Establish training programs for officials.
Coordinate marketing and facility reservations.
Resolve player issues and manage budgets.
Collaborate with campus and off-campus entities.
Develop training programs and recommend new sports.
Ensure staff certification and manage participant files.
Club Sports
Oversee and manage the Club Sports program.
Supervise and advise Club Sports teams.
Coordinate practice and competition schedules, including travel.
Ensure safe field setups and first aid availability.
Manage club files and audit waiver compliance.
Address budget concerns and spending.
Establish training programs for Comp Sports Supervisors.
Work with Student Government to develop a club sports program structure that aligns with our Florida SUS peers.
Youth Camps
This position works under the guidance of the Assistant Director Competitive Sports & Camps and alongside a partner unit coordinator as another professional staff team member supporting the summer youth camp.
Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of camp staff
Assist in the development and administration of camp policies, procedures, and programmatic details
Assist with registration, payment, and documentation of participants
Assist in the maintenance of camp documents and medical information
Ensure all risk management and emergency procedures are applied
Assist in the scheduling of camp staff;
Assist in the marketing and promotion of camps.
General
This position is an integral part of our unit, where teamwork and collaboration are essential. We believe in supporting each other to achieve our collective goals. Therefore, this position will be expected to work closely with colleagues and, when necessary, assist in other capacities to ensure the overall success of our objectives.
This position requires either (a) Master’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization; (b) Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and two years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 6 years of direct experience.
The Department of Recreation and Wellness, known as RecWell, covers about 230 acres of the University of North Florida campus, has multiple facilities and fields, and is divided into these units: Aquatics, Fitness, Competitive Sports, Eco Adventure, Wellness, and Youth Programs Compliance. We employ nearly 20 full-time professional staff members across these units and approximately 200 student staff.
