The recreation services coordinator contributes to the success of Campus Recreation by serving on the recreation services team and assisting with membership sales, facility operations, and event management. This position will supervise student employees and provide opportunities for informal recreation. Additionally, this position will be accountable for contributing to a positive, friendly work environment that encourages, enhances and demonstrates collaboration, teamwork, professionalism and equity among staff, students and patrons on a daily basis. This position enhances the quality of students’ experiences and provides exceptional service to the USC community through daily interactions and long-term expectations and goals. 

JOB DUTIES:

• Provide supervision to optimize effectiveness and ensure appropriate supervision to over 50 student employees. Develop expectations and goals that establish a clear path for success and a requisite meeting, communication and feedback strategy to promote fulfillment. Conduct requisite training and skills checks to optimize employee readiness. 
• Manage memberships and locker sales to the university and the community, facilitate smooth operations through diligent and clear training to student employees, and execute the reservation process for university events held at Campus Recreation facilities. 
• Develop associated budgets, manage expenditures and revenue streams utilizing specified tools. Assist with the development of long-range planning documents and the execution of associated priorities. Ensure all purchasing is conducted within the limits of fiscal authorization and in compliance with associated policies. 
• Contribute to the quality of students learning experience and academic success by transitioning students to a campus environment and meeting any specific academic resource needs they may have.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

A variable work schedule that will reflect the job responsibilities and needs of the department throughout the academic year. Early morning, evening, & weekend hours will be required to perform job duties and responsibilities, as needed.  

This position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement/hazardous weather and other emergencies. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in Sport Management, Exercise Science, Recreation, Higher Education or related field, 1 year related experience.

Relevant experience in recreation oversight.
