Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Aquatics Coordinator provides leadership and direction for the WSU Aquatics program in the Stromberg Complex, including:
Drop-in swimming
Swim lessons
Lifeguard certification classes
Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification classes
Lifeguard services
Maintenance of pool equipment.
The manager oversees approximately 25 lifeguards, head lifeguards, water safety instructors, and student managers.
Required Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, human performance management, recreation, health or related field AND two (2) years professional experience in areas listed below OR associates degree with four years related experience in areas listed below:
Pool operations and aquatics and safety programming
Hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and supervising lifeguards, water safety instructors, and other safety staff (must be able to train lifeguards)
Aquatic risk management protocols
Experience in budget management
Customer service
Word processing, spreadsheets, presentation/publication programs).
One year of supervisory experience
Certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR/AED Professional Rescuer.
Current instructor level certification to include American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) and Water Safety Instructor (WSI).
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, human performance management, recreation, health, or related field.
More than one year’s experience in: pool operations and aquatics and safety programming. hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and supervising lifeguards and water safety instructors with aquatic risk management protocols.
Certified Pool Operator, Certified Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT), Certified Lifeguard Instructor Trainer (LGIT).
Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated problem-solving and conflict management skills.
Experience in university aquatics programming
