The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Program Coordinator for Intramural Sports and Special Events, UNLV Campus Recreational Services, UNLV Student Affairs [R0149134]
ROLE of the POSITION
Through the intentional use of student learning theory and student involvement, this position exists to provide and market recreational involvement opportunities in intramural sports, and special events. Working collaboratively and in conjunction with the Associate Director for Recreation Programs, this position creates, markets, implements, and assesses all intramural and special event programs and services. Responsible for program development, budget management, student employment: supervise (1-2) graduate assistants, (10-20) program assistants, (20-30) sports officials, (5-15) intramural supervisors, budget management, strategic planning and assessment, and administrative functions. This position will contribute to student satisfaction with their collegiate experience by building a sense of campus community, fostering student’s awareness and appreciation for recreation, physical activity, and involvement focused on personal growth, development, and social interaction. Observe and resolve risk management and safety issues and provide 24/7 emergency on-call response as necessary. On call response within 30 minutes. Evening and weekend work required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and either one year post-bachelor’s or 9 months graduate assistantship experience in collegiate recreation, athletics, or commercial/city recreation. Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.
ACCEPTED EQUIVALENCIES FOR DEGREE REQUIREMENT UNLV may consider additional relevant experience in place of formal education requirements:
For positions requiring a master’s degree, acceptable equivalents include:
Six additional years of relevant experience
A bachelor’s degree plus two additional years of relevant experience
An associate degree plus four additional years of relevant experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required within 60 days of employment. All successful candidates will have the ability to assess student needs, value a high degree of student contact, interact effectively with a wide diversity of people, have excellent interpersonal skills, communicate well in verbal and written form, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
