The Kiernan Recreation Center at Niagara University invites applications for two dynamic graduate assistants to join our team. We are seeking a Graduate Assistant for Sports Programs and a Graduate Assistant for Facilities & Membership Services. These two key positions will help shape an energetic, student-centered space for the Niagara University campus community. Our department strives to enhance the Niagara University experience by creating a strong sense of belonging through facilities, programs, and services.
Graduate Assistant for Sports Programs
- Assist with the development and oversight of the entire intramural sports program
- Train, develop, and schedule intramural officials/game staff
- Create and publish team schedules and playoff brackets
- Conduct player education/disciplinary meetings as needed
- Work directly with the Director of Campus Recreation in the planning and coordination of club sports travel, home event requests, and other club sports events
- Advise club sports officers on leadership, budgets, fundraising, policies, and member retention
- Provide on-site event coverage for club sports competitions
- Support the marketing, promotion, and evaluation of the intramural and club sports programs
- Assist the Director of Campus Recreation with the supervision, training, and leadership of all Kiernan Recreation Center employees
- Serve as the evening facility supervisor and weekend supervisor as part of a rotation
- Attend departmental meetings as scheduled
- Other duties as assigned
Graduate Assistant for Facilities & Membership Services
- Assist in the management, administration, maintenance, and supervision of the Kiernan Recreation Center and outdoor fields
- Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate Kiernan Recreation Center employees
- Assist with the scheduling of Kiernan Recreation Center facility spaces and the supervision of special programming
- Serve as the evening facility supervisor and weekend supervisor as part of a rotation
- Assist in the administrative duties involving facility policies and procedures
- Assist with faculty/staff and community memberships, along with locker rental management
- Assist with maintaining the department website and managing social media sites
- Identify partnership needs for the department, as well as build, maintain, and evaluate advertising partner relationships
- Assist with coordinating and leading various outreach efforts such as special events, campus and community tours, presentations, and tabling events
- Assist with marketing and promotion of campus recreation events and social media posts
- Attend departmental meetings as scheduled
- Other duties as assigned

- Bachelor’s degree required, preference for candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sport Management, Physical Education, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a recreation facility or campus recreation department
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to interact effectively with students, staff, and faculty on a daily basis
- Certified in CPR/AED and First Aid and/or willing to obtain instructor certification
