University Recreation at Mississippi State University is seeking qualified applicants for 4 GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIPS. The positions are 12-month positions, 0.5 FTE, and the University provides a tuition waiver (see stipend details below). Full responsibilities for the positions will also be provided upon request.
Preference will be given to applicants who qualify for Federal Work Study.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT – INTRAMURAL SPORTS
The Intramural Sports GA supports the planning, supervision, and daily operations of intramural leagues and events at the Sanderson Center and outdoor recreation fields.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and admission to an MSU graduate program (required)
- Experience as an intramural sports official (required)
- Preferred: Sports-related academic background; intramural supervision experience; strong staff supervision and scheduling skills
Responsibilities
- Assist with scheduling leagues and events, updating standings, and managing sport registration
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate intramural staff
- Provide on-site or on-call supervision to ensure games begin promptly and facilities are safe
- Report facility/equipment issues and assist with basic field/court maintenance

GRADUATE ASSISTANT - SPORT CLUBS
The Sport Clubs GA assists with advising student-led sport clubs, supporting club operations, and ensuring safe use of indoor and outdoor recreation facilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and admission to an MSU graduate program (required)
- Preferred: Experience in or with collegiate sport clubs; sports-related graduate field; strong organizational and supervisory skills
Responsibilities
- Advise sport clubs and the Sport Club Alliance; assist with budgeting and policy compliance
- Support facility reservations and serve as the liaison between clubs and the university
- Provide on-site or on-call supervision for club events and practices
- Report safety/maintenance needs and assist with basic field upkeep

GRADUATE ASSISTANT - OUTDOOR ADVENTURES
Qualifications
- Completed bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution (Required)
- Acceptance into a Mississippi State University graduate program is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and supervision of all outdoor adventures staff.
- Assist with planning, promoting, and conducting outdoor recreation trips.
- Oversee operation of the Sanderson Center climbing wall and bouldering cave.

GRADUATE ASSISTANT - FACILITIES
The Facilities GA assists with supervising the Joe Frank Sanderson Center, supporting daily facility operations, and overseeing student personnel to ensure a safe and efficient environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and admission to an MSU graduate program (required)
- Preferred academic areas: Sports Administration/Management, Kinesiology, Physical/Health Education, Higher Education/Student Affairs
- Experience supervising recreation facilities preferred
- American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer preferred
Responsibilities
- Ensure the Sanderson Center is open, staffed, and operating safely and efficiently
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate student facility supervisors; assist with monthly training sessions
- Provide evening and weekend on-site supervision as scheduled
- Report equipment, facility, and safety concerns; document incidents and injuries as required
- Assist with scheduling student staff and completing daily reports
- Support University Recreation special events and contribute to program improvement and departmental planning
- Perform additional duties as assigned by professional staff
