University of Pittsburgh Campus Recreation continues to expand our team in preparing for our new 278,000 square foot, 9-story recreation and wellness center currently under construction. This facility is designed as a transformative space in the heart of campus serving as the intersection of well-being for the Pitt community, and houses Campus Recreation and elements of Student Health Services and University Counseling Center.
As part of the Student Affairs Wellness team, Campus Recreation promotes the overall health and wellness of our entire community providing inclusive recreational and fitness opportunities. The Member Services Coordinator is responsible for the overall and day-to-day leadership and management of member services operations and personnel in providing customer service to promote and support the Campus Recreation department and the Wellness Team ensuring a superior participant experience, first-rate service, and alignment with department priorities. Core responsibilities include student staff leadership, supervision, and development; member services operations, management, and outreach encompassing customer service, facility access monitoring, membership sales, program registration, point of sale transactions, locker rentals, etc.; serving as subject matter expert and system administrator for various software and business management platforms managing access, training, documentation, reporting, and troubleshooting. Perform in hands-on role as member of member services team answering inquiries and supporting team. Create, manage, and foster programs and relationships that continually promote Campus Recreation with students, faculty, staff, and University community members. Coordinator works a varied on-campus schedule with an assortment of hours and days to ensure a superior participant and student employee experience.
Position requires baccalaureate credentials and/or equivalent education and independent experience, and minimum 2 years of progressive member/guest services operations management and/or similar experience, preferably in a higher education environment. Minimum 1 year supervising student or part-time employees. B.S. degree in recreation management/administration, sports management, exercise science, physical education, kinesiology, student affairs, or related field. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills; ability to lead and mentor students; demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with successful outcomes. Familiarity with Microsoft Office software is required; familiarity with facilities operations and/or business management software preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of all phases of member services and outreach, including knowledge of principles, methods, practices, trends, and techniques, and ability to apply these in a university setting. Ability to understand, interact, manage, and evaluate business operations software systems. General working knowledge of the university recreation programs, activities and services is preferable. Current First Aid/ CPR/ AED certification or obtained within 6 months of hiring.
